Hi, fellow BLers!
Instead of doing an introductory post, I'll go straight to the point. I acknowledge that both nutmeg and elemicin (from elemi oil) have been discussed on BL, but extracting elemicin from nutmeg not so much.
Elemicin is said to produce a mild euphoric feeling, while not fully hallucinogenic itself. As it's structure also resembles the one of mescaline, I'm very interested to get to know it better.
With alcohol, I can get myristicin + elemicin + safrole + bunch of other alkaloids from the ground nutmeg (most likely harmless for your health, not contributing for your nausea and not psychoactive).
From this on, I'm however lost. How should I go separating myristicin and safrole from the precious elemicin?
All three are soluble in alcohol and not soluble in water. Their XlogP values are similar. Same applies to their boiling points.
I'm really a beginner at all kinds of chemistry, but I'm also really eager trying this out. Life is all about learning, eh?
Any tips are appreciated, thanks!
