    Welcome Guest!

Explaining the "afterglow".

my physical afterglow seems to replace the comedown. My mood can stay elevated for an entire day before I snap back to reality.
And while it may have something to do with the previous night, I also think a lot has to do with the type of pill.

^^^Ya, type of pill.

It seems to be the cleaner/lovier pills. Possibly meaning MDMA?

I don't know, I've never tested a pill I've taken so I can't know for sure what chemical may cause this.

Also, I'd like to report:

The last two times I've dosed (total of one pill each time) this past Saturday and two weeks before that, I've gotten a nice little sort of weak afterglow.

The weird thing, this time, is that my voice has changed. It comes out much quieter and softer than before and I seem to prolong certain sounds. When I try to speak normally, I can get rid of the prolonged sounds but it still sounds different and quiter/softer.

Anyone ever seen this sort of thing in action? It's so bizarre.

mrsmitconh: A) Remebering things is a physiological effect B) if remembering things was what caused the afterglow, then you could induce it all the time.

hmmm, maybe it has something to do with MDMA stimulating more efficient production of serotonin to combat the significant depletion...

I've had very nice afterglows where I just feel really euphoric for the week after which slowly fades and becomes more psychological.
But I'll just be sitting on the bus or wherever getting these little rushes of euphoria. I've also had really pleasant comedowns sometimes more enjoyable then the experience itself.

Only one time did I have a bad experience on ecstasy, I hadn't slept for quite some time before it, it was a pretty strong pill (red mitsubishi) and it completely wrecked me, I went from feeling semi bad to horrible (I don't usually take pills when Im not in the right mood. I wasn't paticularly depressed, just exhausted. the experience was very strong with hallucinations etc and I smoked some cones which made me feel kind of bad. Perhaps it was just set and setting, but it was the only time I ever had a crappy afterglow, for about a week after I felt drained. I suppose it taught me when I shouldn't take ecstasy, heh.

I've often wondered, If someone were to have an unlimited quantity of serotonin, or a really efficient system how long MDMA would still cause a psychoactive effect in the brain.

I guess this theory could partially be tested off 5-htp however once the conversion of 5-htp to serotonin becomes to significant it overcomes the effect of the pill :(

Yeah interesting stuff, ive only ever had one sort of afterglow on MDMA and it was after some of the cleanest pills i have had. Some of you people are lucky if you get them often or even for days!
