hmmm, maybe it has something to do with MDMA stimulating more efficient production of serotonin to combat the significant depletion...
I've had very nice afterglows where I just feel really euphoric for the week after which slowly fades and becomes more psychological.
But I'll just be sitting on the bus or wherever getting these little rushes of euphoria. I've also had really pleasant comedowns sometimes more enjoyable then the experience itself.
Only one time did I have a bad experience on ecstasy, I hadn't slept for quite some time before it, it was a pretty strong pill (red mitsubishi) and it completely wrecked me, I went from feeling semi bad to horrible (I don't usually take pills when Im not in the right mood. I wasn't paticularly depressed, just exhausted. the experience was very strong with hallucinations etc and I smoked some cones which made me feel kind of bad. Perhaps it was just set and setting, but it was the only time I ever had a crappy afterglow, for about a week after I felt drained. I suppose it taught me when I shouldn't take ecstasy, heh.
I've often wondered, If someone were to have an unlimited quantity of serotonin, or a really efficient system how long MDMA would still cause a psychoactive effect in the brain.
I guess this theory could partially be tested off 5-htp however once the conversion of 5-htp to serotonin becomes to significant it overcomes the effect of the pill
