Explain why it is wrong to snitch.

So if i chase you down a street firing away at you with my gun but i miss every shot and then i get arrested.. i should be let free because theres no victim? 8)

Your logic fails. Just because there wasnt a victim, doesnt mean its not a crime. If what youve done has endangered people, then there could have been a victim. Just because i missed doesnt mean im not in the wrong.
 
I was put into a situation where I was confused and told on someone. It was the worst experience ever, but I don't feel all the students on campus had the right to harass me for the rest of the semester. I said I wanted to plead the fifth and they made it seem like I had no right to do that; and I actually did say that and the cop held me in the campus until way after midnight. I was screamed at, messed with, taunted, and ostracized and degraded. I think because of this experience it proves how messed up people actually were.
 
Sounds like you deserved to be ostracized; I mean how much more of a violation of trust can you commit against a community than snitching to the outside authorities?

I'd never been in that situation before and didn't know I could say nothing. Plus, it wasn't like I walked up to them. they approached me randomly after dark and basically interrogated me.

You're right, I shouldn't have said his name. But I DID say I wanted to plead the fifth and they ignored me. Anyways, it's too late now.
 
plain and simple, 99 out of 100 people wil doo what it takes when faced with serious time, I know I would I have no allegiance to anyone but me and my family. That said I am careful to not do stupid things to endanger me or others around me. Many times it some really dumb shit gets you in trouble. Has anyone here done any serious time due to not snitching?? 5+ years maybe???Just curious......
 
its wrong for the same reason crooked cops are wrong.

and cuz if you snitch youre gonna get fucked up real good

however criminals are looked at as wrong by society. so to each their own. me personally, i'd never give on anyone who ever helped me out or did me a favor or was just nice in general, but people who treated me shitty or who are always showing up late to meet me and shit... whatever theyre a dime a dozen
 
Certainly snitching is not ok. And I would agree that they always get it in the end. I've seen it happen with my own eyes. Those guys that end up getting reduced sentences or whatever just end up having to watch their backs from there on out and completely change many aspects of their life.

If we want to preserve the movements that have been so hard formed, we need to look at the community and humanity as one big family working towards a common positive goal. It is true that not all people are working towards the same goal, but at least those in the drug scene need to look at the bigger picture rather than scrapping amongst themselves. We need to stop throwing stick and stones at one another.
 
^ yeah you've just identified the problem with indvidual conflicts, group conflicts, national conflicts, racial conflicts, etc

What side? The side that does just as much fucked up shit as the other side? Oh, right.



Don't take a side, and don't apply morals universally. Both are measures of your failure as an individual.
There is no one "moral rule" that one should follow in these cases, or ANY cases, for that matter. It's like plans in battle- at LEAST 50% of the time they're wrong/flawed.

"Our side" is a defensive position. Drug users didn't ask to be persecuted. They're just in the natural state of being human. Drug taking is a part of that.

Our enemies have declared war on us, and give press releases and TV appearances regularly to reiterate how they're waging a war against the citizens of the country who choose to use drugs. We didn't have a choice in this; they declared war on us preemptively.
 
Its heaps more complicated than just us and them though.
What about that Law Enforcement Against Prohibition group? What about politicians, police, judges and prosecutors who use drugs?

As far as working against the police goes and waging war against an enemy. I would say this stance is counterproductive. I do however agree that giving them information about drug related matters can do more harm than good. Discretion and stealth unfortunately are the lot of the drug user in this day and age...
 
It is wrong to be a snitch because you are a dirty fucking rat and noone will trust you especially me. This especially pertains to the drug world and all the shit that goes with it. If you fuck up deal with it like a man and don't lay the shit on anyone else. I have no sympathy for rats and i grew up in a culture where they where dealt with rather harsly and this kept everyone in check. Sadly alot of the younger crowd have not had these values beaten into them properly.

There are exceptions to this rule however. In cases involving child abuse or rape or anything of that kind i would not hesitate to call the police if i couldnt settle the matter by myself. Sadly the police are pretty much useless and good old fashioned physical force is often the most effective way to deal with such shit. A person can't commit such crimes again if they are hooked up to a life support machine or in a wheel chair now can they? :\

then again, i'd like to have the police around as a little insurance against the sort of injustices you'd apparently applaud (violence shouldn't be perpetuated..)
 
snitching is giving someone else up to save your own ass or make yourself look better. somehow you think giving up private information to another party, about another party is going to benefit you knowing the consequences of the snitchee.

imo its frowned upon so hardly in the drug world is because snitching on someone about drugs makes you a hypocrite and a bitch. its like going to dad when your an adult. man up and deal with your own problems. dont be a coward and throw your the consequences of your fuck up on someone else.

or i guess there are the 'innocent' bystanders who might report something to the police, so in this case these people just need to mind they're own business. i don't think its snitching if there is a real immediate threat and calling the cops might be the only option, but if there is no danger to you, and you see something going down then keep your head down and keep walking. its impossible to know someone's motives on a glance. not saying if i saw someone getting mugged i wouldn't try and help(the person being mugged not the mugger..ha..) but if i see someone getting jumped and it looks like there could be a very good reason for the jumping, then ima mind my own business. getting my ass jumped because some dumdick i dont know was mouthing off to the wrong person is not going to solve anything or make me very happy. again, you can't know someone's motives with a glance.
 
everyone here is pretty idealistic i think.. drugs are a selfish business. its not about a community of people uniting and coming together, its about making money and getting high. the dealers know the risks of selling drugs just as the users know the risks of taking drugs.

say youre a heroin addict. all you care about it is getting your fix, its basically life or death. you call some fuckin spanish dude every fuckin day to get your shit and he makes you wait for hours, never cuts you a deal on prices, and doesnt give two fucks if youre hurting so bad youre about to kill yourself. hes profiting off of your suffering and he acts like youre inconveniencing him by calling him to buy dope. if you get caught with dope, every single one of you would rat that asshole out in 2 seconds - cause fuck that guy. its not about right or wrong, its about whats best for you. thats just how it is and to pretend it's any different is just romanticizing the "drug subculture."

i think to identify yourself as part of the drug subculture is silly anyway. youre just a person that takes drugs - just like everyone else - whether its caffine, alcohol, crack, lsd or whatever. just be real about what the drug game is. if you get into trouble and decide to 'snitch' or not that is your personal choice and it's widely subjected to the context of the situation.. but dont act like its some unwritten code of honor or something. youre creating too high a standard for such a wide class of people and if youre selling drugs youre just trying to rationalize it though denial of the real consequences to your actions.

as for the psychedelic revolution.. youre like 45 years too late. cops dont care about that shit anymore and people dont generally get caught with psychedelics, except maybe ecstasy..

You mean that man who you depend on to feel well? He has many clientele, so you have to wait, yet he always comes through. The one who always charges you the same price because he has overhead to consider and a family to take care of. I see you mentioned he is Spanish, so that must factor in your decision making, no?

by the way, for someone who lists "destroying my ego" as one of their interests you might want to bail on the name calling as well as your identification with the "drug subculture." 8)
