I've always assumed it's mostly about making more money. Expiring drugs = higher demand for manufacturing.The date is a legality and a suggestion. Thats the amount of time from being on shelf that they can actually guarntee full potency. Most meds are good a few years but ya antibiotics not so much
It's like children's car seats that expire. I always assumed that's a ploy (mostly) to buy new ones instead of used ones. Many nervous young mothers aren't going to fuck around if you suggest they're endangering their babies.
