Expiring Pills

The date is a legality and a suggestion. Thats the amount of time from being on shelf that they can actually guarntee full potency. Most meds are good a few years but ya antibiotics not so much
I've always assumed it's mostly about making more money. Expiring drugs = higher demand for manufacturing.

It's like children's car seats that expire. I always assumed that's a ploy (mostly) to buy new ones instead of used ones. Many nervous young mothers aren't going to fuck around if you suggest they're endangering their babies.

To anyone: What about other illegal drugs? If you come across a bag of cocaine or heroin that's 1 or 5 or 10 years old...??
I once did some meth that must have been at least 10 years old. I had found it folded up in $20 bill on the street and saved it. Finally got around to doing it and thought it was very good. But I'm not a meth savvy person
I also did some really ancient morphine that my dad had in an old bottle from the lab. It looked OLD. Decades. did it a few times. I have no idea if it was actually good but it definitely made me high. It also made me puke my guts out once but that was probably because I mistakenly pinched too much not knowing what I was doing. He eventually weighed out some 5 and 10 mg amounts for me ( nice dad) and they were enough to make me kind of nod. I had no tolerance at the time. But boring. So dunno

Methamphetamine hydrochloride is very unlikely to degrade in a life time if it's stored in even average conditions. As far as organic salts go, it is about as stable as it gets.

Most commonly used recreational drugs that are organic salts are very unlikely to meaningfully degrade in a 10 year time span.

If the material is dry and was stored indoors, it's good to go.

It might play a role but it started bc the FDA set a new regulation at that time requiring all pharmaceutical companies to put a exp date on all medicine, im sure they didnt want to to begin with though.

My understanding is that modern medications and by that I mean, medications produced industrially, lose their potency very slowly so long as they are in a container. I have taken Hydrocodone Syrup that was at least 30 years old. It truly didn't seem any less potent than it should have been. If you go over to Reddit there is a section called "Obscure Drugs" that I fucking love. They collect antique drugs, almost all are controlled substances. Some of the members use the drugs also and they can tell you that decades are more often than not not long enough for the drugs to lose significant potency.

Gotta remember though syrup is heavily preserved and will do a great job shielding the actual hydro in the solution. Regular tablets would probably degrade twice as fast even in the best circumstances side by side but again its so wildly variable nobody could truly give a blanket answer other than take some and find out lol if that doesnt work take some more until you feel your normal dose has been achieved lol

The more biological a substance is the faster itll degrade, the more unstable the substance is the faster itll degrade
Theres basic rules of thought you can follow but nothing bullet proof and that you still wouldnt have to take case by case

I had some clons and diazepam that were over 10 years old. The clons were perfect condition and worked great. The diazepam was a little damaged (crumbled), but still worked as well as I remembered
