^^That's awesome, Maya! It will be so fun to be in a sparkling new facility I'm sure. What kind of yoga do you practice? I am trained as Vinyasa Yoga teacher, but I practice a lot of bikram yoga these days myself.

Day 2 of Insanity. Every.Thing.Hurts.

I actually have only done yoga once lol I am more into meditation before going to sleep. I am not sure what kind of yoga they will have in the new facility but I hope we have classes for hot yoga.

^My son and his exercise fanatic girlfriend did the Insanity program for about 5 weeks then declared it...you guessed it...insane.=D

hahaa...they were right! I feel like a pro soccer player during basic training. It's all drills. A whole lot of jumping. My calves hurt the most, followed by my triceps. My triceps are used to being worked slowly and meticulously in triangle pose...NOT doing "moving pushups" which I had never heard of before this.

All jokes aside, I'm excited about the next 60 days. I am weary of the diet that's included, though. I'm a vegetarian, and I don't eat fast food, so I'm not worried about that, but I NEED my pie.

Pie better be included.

Maxed out on barbell squat last night. Was intense, but I'm feeling some back discomfort today. Could just have slept wrong, who knows. But I just need to remind myself that maxing out on squat isn't a good idea for this very reason. Would go to the chiropractor, but I'm a broke drug addict with no money or health insurance, so the pain shall continue.

Lifted chest and triceps this morning just after the sun came up. The show goes on.

Hey Thanks Captain=D. I love it when we hit upon something that makes a true positive difference in our lives. Is it helping with the PTSD?

Already reworked my approach to basically fit some of the ideas you presented Red. Flipped my pyramids over and am starting after quick warm up with the higher weight lower reps first and working the opposite way I was. All the places I work strong muscles where I never did 5x5 as part of my cycle I have or am adding in 3x6 and then some of these places I used to just do sets of twelve I'm dropping the weight and adding reps up to 18-20 again three sets. So I guess I will be doing a rotating cycle of 5x5, to reverse pyramid from 2-12, 2x6, with the inclusion of close grip, high reps flys (incline, decline, strait)

Also tried the lifts you gave me for lower chest.. LOL.. i had a tough time doing them.. the skins session I had must have some how worked that area pretty good As i was sore.

I have been a little bumming on legs. quad tightened up a week or so ago and some pain and inflammation went down my muscle and worked it way around the knee cap. What weirded me out about it was that it felt just like I got infected.. you know how it kinda slowly tightens up and then stays sore for a grip.. well thats exactly what it was like.. but today that shit seems to be a distant memory.

Oh and I figured out that I have had my standard bench grip one finger over to morrow on each side.. when I did this minor adjustment I added 20-40 pounds immediately (I kinda switched in the middle of a set.. by the time i was confident it was what was supposed to be the 2 rep push, with the new grip I easily did it eight times. so I guess I may not be as week in the chest as I thought. .. I dislocated my shoulder a way back in the day playing hockey and as those things never heal its fucked with me in situations ever since.. because of this I had a really weird angle of my arm for allot of chest exercises.. This in turn caused my shoulder to do more of the lifting.. spread it out one finger on each side and the difference was kinda night and day.

Also I dont know what the deal is but I,m really getting stronger in leaps and bounds.. I dont think I have ever climbed this quick before..

Now I need to figure out a couple of more tricep exercises.. get a real strong back routine going.. add in some more leg lifts that I tend to skip.. and whenever it warms up start trail running outside.

So anyway just wanted to take stock of where I am.. sorry for the ramble..

To be honest? No. I have horrible awful nightmares and one of them left me crying for hours the other day.

I am sick right now though? I have been working out a lot too. So maybe it HAS helped but I just don't "sense" it?

I wish I could gauge better.

I had a lot of flashbacks the same day ? But I wasn't feeling well so I don't want to say exercise didn't help.

but for real man you're an inspiration. And I wish I knew you in real life. You've helped me past some tough times and I wish there was some way I could repay the favor.

By the way, for the legs, do seated leg presses. Until it burns. Every day ontop of everything. I can do 400lb x at least 30 reps. I have such huge thighs. Might be German genes but trust. Your legs are worth daily work outs.

Helps with marathon sex too :D

Oh also I am only 78 days off bupe. It could be PAWS related nightmares??? So if the exercise is helping my mind I won't know until later.

But I am bulking up like a beast. Before and after pics will come.

Well shit sir if things work out I will be out west soon and will finally have a little jing to travel your way:)

Yeah I had awful dreams at points for awhile.. I guess what i did was I just reminded myself that they were only dreams.. which wasn't that easy cause I have had dreams be so relevant to life.. but in that case they seem to have little or no relevance.. This should get allot better when your receptors finally shut back down<3

So I ran really hard today and lifted really hard at back and shoulders.. but after all that I just didn't have the energy to move into legs, wrist, and bi's.. which is good as that would have been pushing it way to hard since I ramped up the back and shoulder workout so much. On another good note I finally can pretty much run and run and run, at least till my legs get tired but its no longer a situation of getting out of breath.. I was never a distance runner.. still am not but I dont think I have ever been in this type of running shape. kinda cool when you can just keep running and running...

I did a full body workout tonight and I feel gewdd.tomorrow will be cardio day plus some other stuff depending how I feel.

My "Insanity" DVD set just arrived in the mail. I had been getting myself prepared with free videos I found on vimeo, etc. It's actually pretty hilarious: it's like a info-mercial in a box. Pages and pages of ads for more products to buy that are "strongly recommended" if you are going to do it right. Not this yogi. I'm not going to be purchasing an overpriced smoothie/vitamin pack. I know how to make a smoothie, and i know how to juice fruits and veggies.

There is a nutrition program that you are also suggested to adhere to while you do the intense workouts for 60 days. It's fairly comprehensive and really great for folks who eat the typical American diet. I haven't eaten those types of foods in at least 10 years, so the nutrition plan isn't the tremendous sea change in diet that it might be for some folks. So that was relief for me--just keep on eating the way I normally do.

I'm going to start tomorrow, the first day of the month. I taped their calendar on the wall near my full length mirror and took my "Before" shot of my body. I am very excited to see what the transformation will be 60 days from tomorrow. (Dont worry guys, I'm not going to use this thread as a journal and write out every detail of my days. I have my own journal for that.)

But I would appreciate any tips/advice from any of y'all who have done it. Apparently I am the last woman on earth to hear about it. (Maybe because I dont have a television.)

Bring it.

SO I'm officially a slacker. I haven't done shit in almost a week now, and I feel like crap about it. Haven't eaten healthy either. Ever since this last bout of bad insomnia started a few weeks back I've been getting more and more unhealthy again. So yesterday I bought a 24 hour fitness membership and an herbal extract mixture for sleep. Force fed myself at least two large meals the last couple days, and starting tomorrow getting back to forcing myself to work out. Going to go to the gym first thing. Will report back with what I end up doing.

I wish I could start exercising, but I have NO motivation lately..
Plus the only weights I have are 25lb dumbell things and have no money for a gym membership.
And don't like walking because my neighbors are used to seeing me do nothing for the past year while sick from getting clean, I donno what they would think about me if I started running or walking, know what I mean?
They already think I'm weird enough (which im not! I was just sick)
Would doing curls and "benching" the 2 25lb dumbells (50lbs) even do anything? I would need to do a lot of them because that's hardly any weight.
Also.. wish I had a punching bag lol.

Any tips on where to start off bettering my body?

^^ It's better then nothing I suppose, shit I mean 25lb dumbbells was like my max a few months ago haha, Junkie atrophy and all.

Pushups, and pull-ups if possible, would probably take it a bit farther, though.

^ Thanks.. completely forgot about pushups. Used to do them a lot (years ago). I gotta find something to occupy my mind and let out my excess and nervous energy.
Maybe i'll do some now to make myself a little more tired and i'll be able to get some sleep lol.

25 per dumbbell isn't bad for shoulder presses either.. oh and fuck what the neighbors think they can mind their own lives. Better to exercise in the morning or afternoon to promote good sleep cause it can often make us feel relaxed but energized as well.

HOOD

Do what you feel able to. When I was in bupe withdrawal I couldn't fucking move to save my life for a while. It was real miserable.

When you feel able, you'll know.

You can always give walking around a try. Every time I would go outside to buy food I would be amazed that I was able to when minutes ago it felt impossible.

We are all stronger than we know man. Keep that in mind too. :)
