I'm glad Bluelight has come together to pray for a life to come back and join us. It shows how strong this Bluelight Community is. My thoughts and prayers go out to David and his family. Pull through Dave and live the rest of your life.

I haven't said anything yet, there's been a few things said here that have really put me off. But since some of this stuff is being read to Dave, I'll say something.
First of all, for those that don't know, my name is also Dave and I was formerly known here as SovietContin.
Some of the things that have bothered me are people quoting Dave's old "don't blame the drugs".
I hadn't spoken to Dave for a while. I used to speak to him fairly regularly. When I was trying to kick my own habit, he gave me a hard time about it. My perspectives on life were changing and at the time the last thing I needed was to be talking to someone telling me to find a way to around my problems without quitting when really my heroin addiction was the source of my problems.
One of the reasons I had changed my name on the board is because I was tired of people believing I was encouraging drug use. I got emails and IMs all the time as if I was some sort of inspiration to people. And the last thing I would ever want to do is inspire someone to follow my path of self-destruction.
Dave himself was apparently trying to kick his habit before this happened. And for as much as he told people not to blame the drugs, what he wasn't telling people is how much the drugs were affecting his own life. Drugs themselves don't cause the user to make bad choices, but drugs most certainly affect a users decisions.
I really hope something positive can come out of this tragedy and people will think twice about what they're doing.
I saw someone else in this thread say they couldn't believe that of all people someone like Dave could overdose because of how much he knew. When you're a junkie, it's not about what you know. When you're seriously addicted to heroin, you don't think straight and you stop caring. It changes you.
The same night Dave overdosed, I was actually going to IM him just to say hi and see how he was doing because I hadn't spoken to him for a while. I reallly wish I would have had one last chance just to talk to him.
He was truly a brilliant individual despite all his personal problems. And he was geniunely a good guy despite his mean and cranky persona. His sense of humor was dark, but I think it was merely just a sign of how complex and deep he was. The amount of knowledge he possessed was truly incredible and he was able to understand life in a way that few people could ever hope to do.
I still chuckle out loud when I think about some of the conversations we had and some of the things he said.
I truly hope he pulls through and makes it. There's nothing he couldn't do if he put his mind to it. His knowledge and charisma gave him an extraordinary ability to touch people and he has a lot to offer the world.

I can't believe this. I spoke to him last week. He told me he'd been in and out of places.. I told him to try Hazelden b/c they have an excellent program there.. he said it wasnt worth it.. there was nothing anyone could do.. he was useing again.. I just.. I feel bad.. i asked him how to shoot and he said not to do it it was for "bad" people like him, not young little girls like me.. i just laughed.. but I.. I don't know. He is in my prayers, him and all his family. Ashlie, stay strong. You're brother's an amazing person. LOVE to all.

This is so sad...I have stored his advice on my computer; he seems to be a very intelligent person. To blame or not blame the drugs? Well, if drugs hadn't been illegal, he could have chosen something safe, exactly what he wanted, not what was available for the moment.
I remember a girl in my hometown, she was "gone" for a month, and her parents - and the doctors - had given up hope. Suddenly she woke up, with only slight memory losses, but no real brain damage. Please destiny, let this sort of thing happen to Phreex...

I think phreex is the man and hope is alright, recovers from his OD. I just remember reading in the "phreex files" that he did OD 5 times.

Hey everyone- I forgot one thing last time I wrote that my family and I have been trying to figure out for the last week. David OD'd sometime between Sunday night/ Monday morning...we don't know at what time....we were wondering if anyone knew what time his last entry was..it would give us a better idea of what time it happened. I was also wondering how you get to "PhreeX Files" ...someone said that he had written about his ODing 5 other times. I am computer illiterate..so baby terms will be needed if it is a complicated process in order to get to it. I tried his Underground site-and I couldn't log in. If anyone knows what time he logged off or stopped talking...it would mean a lot to my family and I
Thank You
-Ashlie

Ashlie: here's one of the Phreex files:

I *know* that there were more. But I think Phreex recently deleted a lot of his old threads - I know I deleted one of the FAQs at his request, and I think he may have deleted some of the others.
For more (much more) of his work, use the Search button (top right hand corner). Type Phreex in the search box, and search in either Other Drugs, or Other Drugs Archive (from the drop-down menu). Make sure you are searching only the topic, not the whole thread - I just tried this in the Other Drugs Archive and got about 100 results - all threads either started by Phreex, or that mentioned his name in the thread topic.
One thing you'll see is how many people, when they had a question, adressed it directly to him - his knowledge is greatly respected here.

Wow, I've been at a loss of words since I read this..
Though I never knew him, every ounce of respect in me goes out to Dave and his family. This proves that even revered deities are subject to the faults of this world...
Dave, I wish the best of luck to you and I hope the outcome is the situation is the way you want it, whatever that may be.
"The winds are blowing
and the skies keep turning grey,
Now the sun is setting..
the sun will rise another day"

Dave, I really value the time we spent together, I'm about to go home & look through my photos of that vactaion & hope you make a FULL recovery, I know a half-assed one is really not your style. I really hope we get too hang out together again in the future.
To his sister & family: I know he was often distant but he does love you a lot.
Most of all I hope whatever the outcome of this is he will be happy he absolutely desrves it. I wonder if peopel like him are just really too intelligent for this world.
much love, Kelli

i am rendered speechless by this news. none of you know me probably, i've only made a few posts here, i'm more of a reader.
i don't know PhreeX personally, but i know his words well. last fall, his 'guide to iv injection 2' saved the life of one of my best friends, who is addicted to (iv) meth. i gave her a printed copy of the guide, because she had been reckless with her use and did not how to slam properly. until she read your guide, she had been using tap water. a few days later, she was getting a fix with a buddy who used the tap water at his house to shoot and wound up as one of the statistical rarities -- getting a horrible infection that eventually took his life. she, fortunately, had bought some saline solution the previous day and now lives to relay the story.
i wish that i could say thank you personally. even though it seems from what others say as if you were in much pain recently, your words, your wit, and your honest advice carry a resonance with all who read them, and all who will continue to read them, regardless. i have great respect for PhreeX, as i'm sure many people do.
i send much love, respect, and compassion to Dave, his friends, and his family.
