ever seen somthing that affects you for awhile

that "Daniel Pearl" beheading video haunted me for a while. i couldnt understand how the people doing this barbaric act had got to this point. imagine his wife. im not sure if she ever watched the video but curiosity will win over one day and god help her if she ever sees it.
i hate the way that these videos make me feel physically sick afterwards. i wish i could just be numb to it all.
the animal thing doesnt bother me in the least(not talking about animal torture that bothers me) i attribute this to being exposed to animal death at an early age. my uncle raised goats and black people would buy them. he would deliver them ,"process" them. this consisted of hanging the goat upside down. cutting the throat then eventually cutting off of the goats head after it had bleed out. then he would gut and skin it. get his money and leave. i still remember the sounds the goats made the loud bleating. but more than anything i remember the goats decapitated head seeming to stare at me as we walked away.

The last Tsunami that hit Japan ;( - theres videos that show villages being wiped out and you can hear people screaming / passing comments etc.

Yes the beheading vids are nasty - but when you know that some of the UAE countries do it as part of the criminal justice act then they can almost become 'normal' (Im not saying I agree with it at all) but are they any different to somebody being given a leathal injection / electrocution or gassed?

Yes the Daniel Pearl video was horrific - but that was just a group of nutcases who had set out to shock the viewers - the same as somebody in the US walking into a school and shooting 10 kids - the same as somebody walking into a school in China and stabbing 10 kids.

i hope this doesnt make me weird but animal violenc hurts me more than human ,like people torturing animals ,yes seeing somone try and survive after there throat slit is horrible and had me almost shaking ,the animal stuff i just cant watch ,most in my area would consider me a "tough redneck type" just cause thats what around here and the few animal cruelty ,like the baby seals being beat almost had me crying ....

its just animals arent suppose to know,or have the mental capicity(sp) as us so this is why it tears me up the way it does ...

You're not weird. I agree with you.

lots of things, but i won't list them as reading them can be just as bad as seeing them. i couldn't read past the first reply in this thread.

That is not weird at all, I am the same actually.

Me too mate. I've never actually seen ANY of the videos people have described but I've read descriptions of them many times. Obviously if I actually watched the videos I'd be more adversely affected by them but honestly, as you said, just reading about them makes me feel sick and haunts my thoughts for weeks.

i don't know if it's worse to see it or to have it in my imagination. hence, i won't even read that stuff any more.

^ i think because we're compassionate people incapable of such depravity our imaginations pale in comparison to the reality. there are some sick fucking people out there and while i'm torn on the issue of capital punishment, people capable of such harm and destruction have no value in our society.

thanks for the <3 all - i don't think i've ever shared that story aloud. and much <3 to all of you that have been unfortunate witnesses to something traumatic.

3 guys 1 hammer and a few of the kitten torture videos.

In real life? Watching people slip into serotonin seizures still haunt me. Even if they don't die.

age 8 at an airshow saw dude die after skydive chute and reserve wrapped and he bounced 3 ft

i started skydiving at age 29 last time i had a spin and reserve saved me at 400' only2 seconds b4 death

I have seen a lot of those beheading videos and whatever else, and yeah, they're pretty disturbing, but I find that the most disturbing things I've seen that still affect me, truly affect me, are the things I've witnessed first-hand.

For example, I had a friend whose father worked on cars and owned his own garage. One time, I went there to pick my friend up and he wanted to show me something. He showed me a car completely wrecked with the windshield blown outward where someone's head had clearly flown into it. And on the passenger seat there was this congealing, shiny, almost wrinkled and merlot-colored sack of brain fluid. It was ridiculous. I guess the guys head hit the windshield and he slumped over into the passenger seat, or, that's how my friend explained it to me anyway. The car accident was a fatality, of course.

I don't know why, but to do this day thinking about that car still freaks me out.

Animal cruelty videos always get my tears flowing. Seal clubbing especially.

Unfortunately I was in manchester city center next to a window cleaner when he fell off his ladder into the path of a bus. It wasn't so much the crunch, but more the pop at the end.

Then a couple of months ago I was in Saudi when I got manhandled by the religious police and forced to watch a beheading. That's something I won't ever forget. I never saw the mans face - he was hooded - but I can't begin to imagine what he'd been going through. Apparently he'd broken into a local's villa trying to steal food and fought back and injured someone (who turned out to be royalty, or relative of royalty) when they tried to pin him down. It was silent when the sword came down - absolutely silent. No "thunk" or "sshhhlinggg" like the movies. Just silence. Then the hood just fell down, and there was no head on the guy's body as if it was some kind of fucked up magic trick... stays with me every night that time.

I've only been really affected by one web video - it was from wikileaks where a US chopper gunned down 12 or 13 civilians for "target practice".

Well, death penalties in the US or other places aren't held in the town square. Nor are people physically forced by the police to watch in order "make an example"

I watched my mom die...she was already brain dead but kept gasping for air, and her eyes were half closed and one was very swollen. We had the nurses (it was hospice service at this point) keep giving her morphine until her heart stopped. Lots of <3 for you Fawkes and anyone else that has witnessed something like this...personally, no video I watch can compare.

I did see a documentary on assisted suicide, and they actually showed the guy die (don't remember the name, was on netflix though) and it definitely set off a psychotic episode for me since I didn't realize how much something like that could still affect me.

I'm the same way. It's awful because they don't even have a fighting chance and it's pure cruelty. :( Not that the killing of poor, human beings isn't incredibly traumatic as well it's just a whole new level in my psyche.

seeing my grandma right before she passed away. i was at my parent's house and my mom got a call that my grandma fell out of bed. i drove over with my mom and my grandma was laying on the floor making some rather inhuman screaming sounds. she kept yelling at the nurses and doctors as they tried to help her onto a stretcher. i've tried to forget about the image but it manages to invade my nightmares pretty frequently :(
