Ever feel like opiates are synthetic happiness (in a bad way)?

I'm on my first dose of oxy in a few months, and I have to say that more than any other drug the euphoria reminds me of the kind you can create through doing various things without drugs. This is probably because it directly goes to the reward system, but being on opiates remind me of how I feel when I do a really good workout or have great sex. Maybe that's why I generally try to avoid them. You can live life and get similar feelings.

Anyone else feel similar?

well i recall taking hydrocodone when i was more into alcohol and benzos and feeling that it was too forced a form of happiness. not that the alcohol euphoria isn't forced, it is. the difference is that alcohol and benzos stupified me enough to not care about why i was feeling (or not feeling) things. on opiates, i felt like there was a warm blanket between me and my problems but i could still clearly see those problems though the warm blanket and i understood too well that the opiate was going to wear off and my blanket would be gone. with alcohol and benzos, i simply didn't care. with cannabis, it was the exact opposite and i almost always felt like i was receiving some great wisdom from it even though this proved untrue. it lead to confusion instead.

Opioids are synthetic happiness.
Opiates are natural happiness.

haha

But seriously -- a lot of people get into drugs because they're missing something in their lives, rangings from depression, loss and grief to, like you said, not getting enough exercise or a good piece of ass regularly enough. The high fills that void and allows the addicted party to go on another day.

Really, though, this is more of a topic for DC, since it really is not a question about a specific drug, but about our opinions on an aspect of the drug subculture.

Just sayin'.

I see what you mean, but I do not think that it is necessarily a bad thing for all people.

I'm not (thank God) a junkie and never have been, but for me, opioids provide a nice, schedulable mini vacation once every month or so to relax. Its nice and convenient to be able to use them in that fashion without suffering any negative consequences.

when you realize how empty the rest of the world seems without opiates, then try to remember life before them...after a while they make life feel sustainable...but not happy...

I've never felt an opiate high naturally. I have felt naturally high from exercising, but it goes away so fast and I just feel worn out and my body feels light. Sex, sure, feels great but how long does that last? The most amazing natural high imo is the feeling after you've thrown up (I'm not bulimic and don't throwup for the hell of it I'm talking about when I get sick) and you just feel SO RELIEVED. However, the euphoria and just "everything's going to be okay" feeling I get from opiates is incomparable to anything I've ever felt "naturally"

No way....it must be opiate unappreciation night tonight. If you know how to "channel" an opiate high, you can feel god like. People underestimate just how far you can go by meditating on a good opiate high.

Your obviously not taking enough. On a nice dose of opiates, I am in heaven, I feel like a God. Nothing can touch me. Seriously, enjoy being a normal person that can enjoy life without opiates, I am jealous of you. 65% of the time I need heroin to feel good man. The only thing that can compare to an opiate high IMO is being with the girl you love.

MDMA/methamphetamine are the main drugs that feel like forced happiness.
Opiates/Opioids feel like natural happiness to me, they make you feel more normal, like you have always wanted to feel your whole life.

of course fucking my girl is bigger high than any high i have ever felt

depends on your defintion of synthetic tho - my friend likes to get blow jobs off lady boys, they are not real women they are an exaduration of one, they fake pleasure, everything you wannna hear etc - its an illusion - its synthetic but try telling him that...

The happiness I feel from Heroin is more genuine than any of the fleeting joys you get from friendship, sex, love, family.

I don't care what people think, if you haven't used dope and you want to pass judgement be my guest, if you've done it and don't understand thats fine.

I found my little piece of heaven, and everyone and everything can fuck off while I bide my time trying to get back to it fulltime.

interesting. do you meditate on any idea in particular? or just try to become even more aware of the feeling?

Unfortunately, I only feel VERY happy when I'm on opiates.
I recently moved and don't have many friends where I live so I'm alone a lot.
I suppose the opiates fill that void.

If my boyfriend offered me sex or an oxy, I'd take the oxy. And so would he.
Addiction fucking suckssssssssssssss.

This.
I haven't done a whole lot of drugs, but subjectively stimulants felt somewhat "fake" for me, almost like I wasn't fully immersed in what I was feeling, but opiates are just some all consuming god-like feeling.

The euphoria feels pretty natural to me, it only becomes fake when you cross the line and let drugs become your source of happiness rather than something that makes already enjoyable activities better. Opiates are the icing on the cake, not the cake itself. I would have little desire to use them if I didn't have a nice pad, sick decks, and my girl to enjoy them with. I would rather live a legit drug free life than be a junkie with all the dope in the world living in cardboard box with no real friends.

When you're really addicted, it's like being in another world. I have made so many mistakes and made really bad judgement calls under the influence of opiates that I just had to get on Suboxone to pull myself back down to reality. Yeah, it's false happiness and contentment for things missing in our lives. That's what makes a junky's life so sad. Synthetic happiness because we lack things in our lives, or maybe chemically in our brains to feel like others. But most people have not touched the forbidden fruit, therefore live normally, looking forward to Fridays, having sex and eating a good meal that satisfies their need for happiness in life. Basically, our brains are hijacked.
