erowid lists euphoria as a positive effect from datura. ime it was not euphoric because the only parts i remember where scary and confusing. is euphoria possible? maybe a lower dose or smoked?
anybody view datura as a "euphoriant"?

"Because datura is plentiful in many parts of the world, it is sometimes ingested for its psychoactive effects by those who are unaware that its effects may be dangerous and are generally considered very unpleasant."

"The main effects of datura are delirium, extreme disorientation, and realistic hallucinations. Many users report periods of several hours in which they have no memory of what they were doing. Behavior is often irrational and accidental injury is a serious risk. Datura also causes physical effects including blurred vision/inability to focus the eyes (lasting up to several days), dryness of mouth, sedation or excitement, inhibited digestion, and an inability to perspire."

"The overwhelming majority of datura users describe their experience as very unpleasant and often physically dangerous. Users of datura commonly report blurred vision, sometimes lasting for several days. Datura may cause severe, long-lasting disorientation, confusion, delirium, and hallucinations."

^^^^all that came from erowids website, heres the link....

http://www.erowid.org/plants/datura/datura_basics.shtml

.....and the rest pretty much says the same kind of stuff said above...

I dont know where you got the idea to try datura....its classified as a "deliriant"(on erowid)

Better luck next time in choosing the right substance to get high off of.....atleast you now have experience you can spread to others too warn them.

In fact I would be very intersted in reading about your experience....allthough OD is probably not the best place to put a "trip report"....but you could atleast type it up here and then the mods can move it for you...hehe.

...or is that a bad suggestion?

well jamesbrown, if you look under "effects" it lists euphoria as a positve. maybe you should look back there and see...or is that a bad suggestion?

i was just curious if anybody had experienced that effect smartass.

I did look and see that too.....but I was paying attention to ALLLLLL of the descriptions erowid had on Datura....not just one.

....and if you looked at the big picture....erowid had VERY LITTLE positive things to say about Datura.

...sure they said euphoria is a possible positive effect....but if that one single "possible" effect is the only thing you focus on, if its the only thing you expect....than you will be sorely(and painully) dissapointed...

Its classified as a deleriant.....that isnt something people typically use to get high or feel euphoria....therefore, when they listed euphoria in its "effects"...it probably was referring to delerious bouts of euphoria brought about by disorientation.

Theres no need to treat me like crap man....I was just letting you know that Datura isn't used for euphoria(atleasst in the way you were expecting) and I was simply giving you evidence to back that up.....

...being sarcastic and calling me a smartass for trying to help you out is not something people are meant to do on BL.

Im going to assume that your still feeling bad from the Datura and forgive you, but could you try not to treat people who just want to help you so harshly???

Unless you had known amounts of extracted chemicals I wouldn't mess around with it at all.

Euphoria is user-relative. Some people don't find certain drugs euphoric, whereas to someone else, that is their drug of choice. It's kind of hard to speculate on the potential euphoria of a drug I have never tried, but I suspect that it's not something everyone would enjoy in the same way.

Sure euphoria is possible but a VERY small percentage of people report any positive experiences on "recreational" doses of anticholinergics... these include datura, belladonna, jimson weed and common pharmaceuticals such as diphenhydramine (benadryl/tylenol PM) or dimenhydrinate (dramamine) among many others.

I, and i know most would echo this sentiment, would STRONGLY advise against trying to use datura recreationally. It makes most people feel like shit and in high doses makes people delirious and have terrifying hallucinations indistinguishable from reality such as snakes and spiders attacking you.

conclusion: euphoria is possible but exceedingly unlikely. Also, don't be a dick to people who respond to you. BL is all about the PLUR
