I may be the subject of scrutiny for this, but I do think that the high from starting fluid derived ether is tragicly overlooked. The crude isolation process is done (as many of you know) by mixing with water, then keeping only the top layer that seperates. Though I am sure of impurities, I think the resulting product is predominately ether.
As I qoute from my American Medical Association Encyclopedia of Medicine, "Ether is among the safest of all anesthetics, but it is so flammable that even static electricity can cause it to explode". Oh yea....thats the drawback.
