I believe the reason for a diamond is because they can not be damaged (under most circumstances), like the saying "a diamond is forever". Symbolizing love lasting forever. Completely making this up from what I'd would think, so I really have no clue. I am sure I could Google a way better answer.
I LOVE my ring. It was designed by a jeweler in Boston who is a family friend of his (helpful friend!). It is a radiant cut, about 1.5 total weight including the pave sides. I never look at the certificate because I do not need to know the price (estimate at least is on there), even though I have a good idea. Just something I'm weird about. I know the the color and clarity are of good quality and based on what he could afford. aYou don't want to sacrifice on something like that. I personally love the cut. Cut is a matter of preference I think, even though it does effect the sparkle.
