Eminem Was 'Open To Ideas' On New Music, Jim Jonsin Says

"He was open to ideas," Jonsin recalled of working with Em on Recovery. "He was real respectful to my craft. He let me do what I do. He asked me ideas on some of the lyrics. We had ideas for lyric changes. Certain words may or may not work on radio. We talked about that. He had a setup outside of the room to do production, but I'd rather be in the room where he was at, and he was cool with that. And I knocked out a couple of joints in there while he was in there with me. He was pretty open and he let me do my thing. He did his thing. It was a pretty good experience."

Jonsin is leaving most of the info under wraps, but he did say Mathers went to a place where the producer had never gone before.

"We touched on something that I haven't done anything like that before," Jonsin revealed. "It's unique in a way for myself. It's a place I've been wanting to go, and I'm so happy he allowed it to go down. He played a huge part in the record. Without him on it, it's not the same. I don't wanna give up too much about what it is and what direction."

Double J also said Slim Shady is hungry and sounds like he did on his first couple of projects. "He's got some traditional Eminem on there, but he's definitely going in. The fans are gonna love it."

Fucking yes! I could tell he was getting hungry again after his verse on "Forever". The only thing that kept me from loving Relapse was his wierd voices/accents. He still killed it though:

In the bed with two braindead lesbian vegetables
I bet you they become heterosexual
Nothing will stop me from molesting you
Titty fucking you till your breast nipple flesh tickles my testicle
Is what I said to the two conjoined twins
How's it going girlfriend, you need a boyfriend?
You need some ointment? Just make an appointment
Who's gonna see the doctor first? We'll do a coin flip
I just got my one year sobriety coin chip
When the bad get going how bad does the going get?
Baby you shouldn't have any trouble rubbing groins with
Each other, especially when you're joined at the hip

Eminem "Not Afraid" premieres Friday

"Listen to our show Friday morning at 6am and again at 720am for the premiere of the new Eminem single "Not Afraid".

It's the first single from Em's new album "Recovery" that is due to drop in the U.S. on June 22nd.

The album was originally supposed to be called "Relapse 2" but Em changed the title to "Recovery" recently.

Many people are wondering where we got the info since we were the first to post it, it came directly from the label:

Eminem single 'NOT AFRAID' is shipping THIS Thursday overnight to arrive THIS Friday....play MPE will be Friday morning at 3 A.M.

There ya go.....

We were surprised to learn the single would be released this week too until we got the word from the label. Very excited to hear it!"

IMO eminem has fallen off. rapping about doing drugs when he doesn't do drugs, stupid celebrity references and shit. did he REALLY talk about christopher reeves again? he already did that shit.
i am going to listen to recovery with open ears though, i am interested to see if in sobriety he takes a different approach to his music.
i have a feeling relapse was written while he was having bad cravings for drugs so he threw it on paper instead of using. didn't do it for me though, hated the album except for a few songs.

i haven't heard any of his mixtapes recently, however. a lot of his best shit isn't on his albums.

2'o clock bean fiend, any of his recent mixtapes (if he has any) particulary spectacular?

lol! have u heard his verses on "Forever", "Drop The World" and "Airplanes Pt. II"? sober Eminem is THE SHIT

Can't wait for Recovery, Em kills it on just about everything he's on. I remember going to see him in Times Square when I was in 5th grade for his Marshall Mather LP release date, I can't believe he's been around for so long and still pumpin hot shit out.

Of course, only a true uber-perfectionist would say that. "Relapse" is fucking crack. "Recovery" will be pure unadulterated methamphetamine. (Is that better/sicker? Lol.) His verses on "Forever" and "Drop The World" shit on every track on "Relapse", but that doesn't mean there aren't amazing tracks on there. He's just getting better.

Besides, Pander's opinion on Eminem is meaningless, especially in a thread created by me, lol. I love you, P, but let's just agree to disagree on the subject...forever.

My iTunes review of "Not Afraid":

"Disappointing" 4/5 stars

"After hearing his verses on "Forever", "Drop The World", "Airplanes Pt. 2" and his "Despicable" freestyle, this track is more than a let down. The chorus is amazing and the message is on point, but this isn't a song that belongs on the comeback of all comeback albums, let alone the lead single. Even "We Made You", the lead single from Relapse, which many fans despised, defacates on this track when it comes to the flow and multi-syllable rhyme schemes that have made him the highest selling rap artist of all time, and argueably, the best. Then there is the beat: are you kidding me? What I refer to as the "Southern snare" needs to be completely removed from the universal music database. "Intolerable" doesn't even do the way I feel about that "instrument" any justice. Where was Dr. Dre when the decision to make this the lead single (and even include it on the album) was made? Yes, it is uplifting and, yes, it has its strong points (some of which it takes more than a couple listens to realize), but in the end, this is not a good choice. Not only isn't it up to par with the previously mentioned tracks, its not even up to par with Relapse, which on this song, he regarded as "ehh." I couldn't be happier that he is clean and has a positive message to spread, but the rest of Recovery better be spotless and then some to make up for this.

PLEASE *DO NOT* INCLUDE THIS ON 'RECOVERY'!"

(Note: Notice the 4/5 stars despite the critical review. That's how good Eminem is.)
