eating Nurofen

yeah technoharm for sure, the panadine fortes were shocking. god the solution was a. more cloudy and b. had a much stronger taste. pretty foul, the n+'s i have found to be much nicer.

just a quick question, anyone with a developed tolerance, how long did it take for this tolerance to go down? and how often/how much did you use when you did use?

i took about 120 mg of N+ halves last night, and it was pretty sweet, but after about an hour or 2, my stomach started goin crazy and is still pretty bad 2day.
Just wondering if the CWE was easier on your stomach than taking 12 n+ halves ?

If you took 12 halves from the new packaging, then you've taken a sizeable hit of ibuprofen too as the codeine/ibuprofen is no longer in separate halves (hence the need for cold water extraction). I'm not sure how much ibuprofen you would have ended up with, but it has been known to cause gastro-intestinal upset in higher doses.

Each tablet contains Ibuprofen 200mg and Codeine phosphate 12.8mg - the max daily recommendation is 6 tablets.

Are you on any other medications?

Since panadiene and nurofen contain different ingredients besides the codeine, as well as different binders, it's no wonder the filtrate tastes different...

It was the old packaging that split convex/concave, took the n+ side.
Thought that was just codine in the old packs ???

^^ My apologies, I read your earlier post:

did the 12 packs split convex/concave ??? I got a pack 2day (newer packaging) and the still split but they are even and the same colour as apose to the usual light brown and white, so obviously mine are mixed ?

and thought that you must have been taking them from the newer packaging :)

When you said your stomach was going crazy, what actually happened... nausea/pain/wind? Have you had any problems using codeine before?

Is there a possiblity that chemists have worked a way of binding the iburofen & codiene together thus making it impossible to remove the codiene?

I personally think the jig is going to be up (if it isn't already) fairly soon, more so the risk of stomach ulcers from accidently injesting iburofen is too painful to think of (last time i took n+ halves i had 30 hours of agony and pain).

There wasnt actually that much pain, more like it was just makin heaps of noise and actin weird, kinda painfull the next day but just didnt sound right

just figured it was somthin 2 do with the digesting of the pills but yeh just wonderin if its usual >

^ oh my stomach churns and farts heaps (makes lots of sounds) too! but i dont get a sore stomach or anything... even the next day its fine. once i had some pain but that lasted for 5mins tops? not even.. it just left just as quickly as it came so yeah~

^^^

yeh sweet that sounds exactly what happened 2 me, just verifiing that it happenes with the codine , not from taking ibuprofen.(although im sure it would happen with ibuprofen as well)

Thanx :)

^ well you lucky bastards i got terrible acid/heart burn, nasua, pain, cramps, and the shits.....all from a nuro+ halves (about 36-40 halves).

I know i don't get that sort of reaction from opiates so i believe it's has to be the iburofen.

lol keep in mind i had a fifth of what you had. plus 40 halves ! thats alot of filler to digest isint it ??

yeah I always got the "cement mixers" but I enjoyed the feeling because I knew what was comming....

heto

a month long break didnt touch my tollerence

yeah codeine is a bitch with tolerance, with me anyway :s

used to have 150mg a week, and after the first few weeks, teh effects werent as good as the first time.

the firs time i ever took it i had just under 100mg (dont know exact dose cos i did the CWE) but it was like heaven! and also ive had 10 x 10mg codeine pills and they were like heaven too!
but after i started using it more often the tolerance built up hard.

I've been doing a bit of investigation into the parent company of the Nurofen brand, boots. A brief outline of the business:

We are the UKs leading health & beauty retailer and are one of the best known names in the UK. We employ 68,000 people, own world famous brands and sell our products in 130 countries. Our commitment to serving customers means we are constantly offering fantastic products, at great value, through expert people.

The following excerpt is from the 2002 annual report:

Analgesics
Sales of Nurofen grew 7.5% and we increased our share in all major markets. This was a good performance, given the low incidence of colds and flu in the UK and our key markets in Europe. New products included pain relief gels in the UK, Holland, Australia and New Zealand. We had particular success with the launch of Nurofen Plus in Australia.

Some fluff about their CSR:

Running business in a socially responsible way is at the very heart of Boots. For more than 100 years we have recognised that the interests of Boots and all its stakeholders are mutually dependent.

In 1919, Jesse Boot, wrote: ‘Fellowship in recreation, fellowship in ideals, common sympathies and common humanity bind us together and whatever fosters this happy union is valuable.’ Today’s Boots feels exactly the same. Caring is part of our heritage. It will always be part of our future.

Two years ago we adopted a new, more systematic approach to reporting on and measuring the results of our many and varied Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. These are now grouped under four headings: Community, Environment, Marketplace and Workplace. This enables us to better manage, monitor and communicate this important business agenda.

Note the 8.1% growth of the Nurofen brand in 2005 (below), up from 7.5% in 2002. This clearly indicates that Nurofen is a very profitable brand.

Sales £m 522.7
Increase % 5.8
Profit £m (before exceptionals) 87.8
Increase % 12.7
Core brand sales £m Increase%
Nurofen 150.4 8.1
Clearasil 91.4 6.0
Strepsils 91.0 9.3

I wonder if there are enough people using N+ recreationally for Boots to feel a hit in profit from the move away from splittable pills. Does anyone think enough people are using/abusing N+ for it to be a significant contributor to Boots' bottom line? The next annual report should tell the story.

As a possible detterent:

For an idea of the predicament that I found myself in this holiday season as a result of codeine addiction check this thread.

but thats just rediculous...

14mg of bupe for a codeine habit...... dude why didnt you just taper down your codeine intake....

that bupe withdrawel is going to be 100x more evil than codeine in my books...

my advice is to use your head... if you feel like you REALLY want some drugs, skip it for a couple of days... break the cycle

The packet of 24 that i bought last night (with the two arrows) were unsplittable :(

For some reason its just not the same when i do CWE.

I found somewhere to get a 48 pack with the arrows, but i'm not really keen on buying it if its not splittable.

ive just started buying the 72 packs and doing the CWE . . .

ive got it down so easy and quickly (use ice and constantly stir it) . . .

once you get good at it it is actually better than splitting the tablets . . .

but i guess its a good thing people have stopped taking codeine; ive started depending on it a bit to help relieve the tremors im getting while on these new SSRI's . . .
