If i dont use ether (too many images of spontaneous combustiong here!) will traces of acetone get removed when the coke is drying? Also you say to use a light in your original post. As i dont have a suitable light can the coke be left to dry for a day or 2?
Many thanks
malko,
Yes, and I should have prefaced that last reply with......................................................................................................................ETHER IS HIGHLY COMBUSTABLE AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO USE. IN FACT, IF YOUR CHEMISTRY CHALLENGED IN THE FIRST PLACE, AVOID USING ETHER ALLTOGETHER!
I appreciate your reminding me of the "combustion" issue. Thanks again.
And secondly, in answer to your question of traces of acetone remaining in your cocaine, the answer is no. Let me stress that you must use "anhydrous acetone" to begin with. It can be purchased thru
www.sciencelab.com. Scroll down thru all of their different grades of acetone until you find the one that says, "Acetone NF". That is the one they sell that is completely anhydrous. It may cost a little more, but you MUST have NO water in your acetone or anywhere near your cocaine. Just 1 ml. of water will dissolve an entire gram of cocaine. See why?
You can fold up the filter paper real good after your done smashing it between the paper towels to absorb any heavy amounts of acetone. After that, you can place it in front of a blow dryer for a few minutes to dry the cocaine to what is a dry level. Though it will still contain traes of dry acetone at this point.
But, once you've "dried" it with the blow dryer, carefully open up your filter paper and let the contents fall out onto a ceramic plate. Use a non-serated knife to gently scrape off any remaining trces of cocaine that are stuck to the filter paper. Just scrape lightly, or you might actually start rubbing off some of the paper into your cociane. No biggie, just not preferable.
Then, let the plate sit open, in a non-humid environment, away from pets or airflow such as fans etc. At the top of your closet is usually a great spot.
Allow 48 hours and it will be COMPLETELY free from any traces of acetone. Guaranteed!
Good luck, malko
P.S. And thanks again for reminding me about the ether.
