Kate it seems like what you call a swede and a turnip are the opposite way round to what I do. I agree with Chatative. The way my mum always did swedes was mashed with carrots. A great combination, and normally the way I cook them. But they are also nice cut into chunks and roasted. And say hi to Felix! A classic BL name.
