Erm, yeah, basically. You go and eat a meal/buy something/etc and write an objective report afterwards about service etc. It used to be good as companies used to pay decent fees on top of reimbursing expenses, but a lot of them went the way of only paying expenses which turns it more into a hobby than a job, and most shops/restaurants that are visited aren't usually my cup of tea anyway.

Used to do it quite often, not so much anymore. Yeah it does feel a bit like you are the 007 of the food world sometimes :D

Yep you usually get about £35-40 to spend, sometimes you have to order certain things etc.

There are certain grim pubs that they want people to visit, no one ever seems to take those ones.

Heh, weird, I think you're local-ish to me too. We may have rubbed mystery shoulders at some point. :sus:

I only ever did one grim pub, brr. Seem to have spent most of my time in Pizza Expresses actually.

I suppose it would if you turned up wearing a tux & ordered Martinis to drink. (shaken, not stirred of course...)

Still sounds like a reasonable deal... getting a free meal isn't a bad shout.

Did a mystery shop at frankie & bennys earlier, how they managed to make a burger so fucking awful is beyond me. Jesus

Yeah Frankie and Benny's are fucking unholy places. I,and I'm sure 95% of others who end up there, only opted for it because I was on some cross country mission, ending up staying at some bleak travelodge, with nowhere to eat in sight. All I remember is it took forever for the food to come and what did come was cold and, for a breakfast dish, had an unsavoury emphasis on cheap bbq sauce.

I thought it must be unlucky tourists and fellow stranded travellers that kept places like that and Garfunkels going, but I see from the FBs of those who've remained in the provinces that they all have some kind of regular, friday night, round table summit at TGI Friday's, posting pictures of their shitty, dry, cheesy and overpriced burgers and drinking things that make aftershox look classy.

Yeah probably in A&S booze or one of the other places the reprobates hang out after dark :D

Yeah its pretty expensive for what it is too. I went to a Gordon Ramsay restaurant a while ago and had a similar meal and the price per head was only marginally more expensive than F&Bs but the gulf in quality was vast. Ridiculous! Some people genuinely think the food id decent though 8(

Tehehe, indeed! Am moving into a new flat around there next week and am going to be so delightfully close to the night bus stop. (Was in the arse-end of <somewhere else> before and it was a real pain the night bus stopping at 3am.)

But yeah, food? I think I'm going to have some quiche soon.

If i miss the 11.55 bus i have to take the Oxford Road bus corridor home. Then i have a 20 minute walk through muggers paradise to get home from Oxford road in Rusholme. :sus:

I've seen the robbery stats on police.co.uk for that area and they are fucking bad news, i guess dressing scruffy has its advantages as i dont look like im going to have a £400 phone on me (i havent) or a wallet full of cash (i dont do that either, i just go out with just enough for w/e the occasion is) i dont usually even take a bank debit card out with me. Those new contactless chip and pin things are ridiculously un secure, All they'd get off me would be a few £1 coins and a £10 casio watch if they were lucky.

As for dinner gonna be microwaving the leftovers of yesterdays chicken and mushroom in tomato and garlic sauce as i made far too much to eat in one sitting.

^ Damn straight MDB, I prefer them to come in pairs.

Just had creamy chicken & spinach casserole:

Most of them are students strolling along with an ipod, phone, laptop, ipad and all that shit. Never had a problem down there although don't venture off into the quieter streets very much.

When is the house warming party? :sus:

Hah, no such chance. Might get around to arranging a meetup in Fuel or somesuch at some point, though.

Yeah, annoying, that - tis probably safe enough but still a pain. But at least you have a house and not a pokey little flat.

sounds like a good idea.

I saw one very dodgy character lurking in a shop doorway who made a sneaky and fast beeline towards me as i started to use an ATM in the area at around 3pm on a winters afternoon, i decided not to withdraw any money as i could sense a smash and grab/ snatch and run coming on, but other than that i havent had any trouble in the area really.
