But that guy was pronouncing it wrongly, it's probably how the locals refer to it, like in Wales Llanidloes gets reffered to as Llanie and Machynleth as Mach and that insanenly named railway station is called Llanfair PG for short etc. You can use the word missisipi to count seconds as it takes 1 second to say 1 missisipi, as in that film Poltergesit where the kids were counting how soon they could hear the thunderbolts after the lightening strikes.

I was once dared by my friend in primary school to ask the headmaster how to spell llanfairpwllgwyngylgwyndobwyllatisilogogoch as we all had spelling books that he would write the correct spelling of words for. The last laugh was on me though as he got me to repeat the whole thing 3 times before he finally just wrote Llanfair PG in my spelling book. Damn, you couldnt get one over on that guy.

yeah there's some sickeningly slick guys out there. Missisipi wouldn't be bad, unfortunately its mississippi (4 s's and 2 p's). That's far too many letters for one word. That said, it is one of few words i can remember how to spell properly, purely because it pissed me off, so that's something i suppose. Never saw poltergeist. Watched the shining when i was kid and called it quits on the horror films after that. Except for true classics like jaws obviously.

I've been to that railway station btw so i know the one you're talking about. Whoever named that must have been off their head on grog (or laudenum i suppose). Or is that the train station? Is it a town name or something? All i remember is being a kid, on a caravan holiday in wales, looking at some crazy stop sign or something.

called it quits because it was too scary ? I swear ive watched The Shining about 8 times and i still find it eerie. Watching it as a yungun must have been almost too much. I remember enjoying Poltergeist a great deal. It was scary, but not too scary. Me and my cousin watched The Exorcist as kids and we were completely terrified by it. The Grudge and Dark Water (Japanese versions) are some of the scariest films ive seen over the last few years. Really creepy stuff.

It's a silly invented name it's only had since the 60's, that it was given specifically so it would have the longest name of any railway station in the world, in an attempt to make it less of an obscure backwater. I don't have a lot of time for it. You'll notice that King's Cross and Grand Central don't have preposterous gimmicky names.

You're a true polymath babylonboy! That's a cool bit of info though. I suspect i'll remember that now, or i hope i will anyway. i like learning about all that stuff too.

I do like scary films actually but i couldn't watch all of the shining as a kid. Jaws and Alien were may favourites i think. Computer games used to shit me up the worst. I tried playing resident evil and all that stuff but the nemesis was too much (don't even get me started on silent hill).

We had a conversation about it in another thread, the name does actually mean something : St.] Mary's Church (Llanfair) [in] the hollow (pwll) of the white hazel (gwyngyll) near (goger) the rapid whirlpool (y chwyrndrobwll) [and] the church of [St.] Tysilio (llantysilio) with a red cave ([a]g ogo goch), to be precise. I was of the opinion that the guy that named it was a poetic genius whilst others thought he was a dick.

It's not just you. I often find some of me phrases and words de jour popping up all over the place. I know they's mine cos I seed 'em and they sprout.

I've also been considering suing Charlie Brooker for nabbing "shambles" when introducing the American psuedoshambles on that finefine proggy of his.

Aye I've been using "gonna" where I would never have done so previously, and I know it's your influence. I was gonna say fault but I wanna be nice ;)

I have to kill the idea that you invented "bat shit crazy", that saying is very old, older even than Shambles!

Ha! Yeah i was wandering if that was a true shambleism or not. I think we should let him keep it though, as a partial compensation for the whole charlie brooker plagiarism deal.

It must be a northern thing (as a true southerner i regard anything even vaguely north of the south coast to be northern, even if its in the midlands, especially wales, birmingham, malvern etc..).

I lay no claim to "bat shit crazy" - that's been around forever. The only word I do claim on BL is 'Swirls' for trippin' stuff cos it actually became a bit of a 'thing' over in PD when I was golden boy o'er there swishing me swirlstick about.

And, I'm claiming this too...

Specifically because it just appeared on my bookmarks bar pre-labelled as 'AFX' when I set up up this account. I do realise it sounds nuts but it really did. I've had an 'AFX' folder as standard since time immemorial cos... cos Dicky D. J is ma man and has been since forever and I posted AFX stuff constantly around PD when I was modding the place. Nothing odd there, but when I created the user I'm using as of now, an AFX bookmark just popped up instantly on my FF bookmarks bar with this linky... and what's the very first thing you hear?

Oh, pish. Thanks. Spare my blushes, eh?

Shammy, my man, we are peas in a pod, the other Rick James is my special fave, too. All my IRL mates are tired of me banging on about how great the Analords are. Let's be friends.

Bat shit crazy is as much about the context in which it came up to be honest. I had just joined BL and found myself on a "peevee" thread, drawn in because I didn't quite believe anyone out there that tried mdpv would actually come back for a second time. I even wrote a punk song about it called "catastrophe"(made a nice rhyme with mdpv for the chorus). Anyway, I'd just come from a mxe thread were shambles was talking about injecting 1500mg in his leg over the wkd, and now I'm seeing him talk about month long mdpv sessions culminating in seeing computer games in the sky and generally going "bat shit crazy". It was a humourous introduction.

when i first read the PV threads i couldnt believe what i was reading, the extremeties people were going to a couple of years ago. I think these tales are becoming less frequent these days. PV doesnt seem to be a long trem sustainable thing, and the turnover rate from users to non users tends to be quite quick as its so draining IMO.

Hate to derail the thread, but what do people make of mebroqualone? I might be overly optimistic, but I have ordered some, in the hope it might just be great.

PV is, by far, the nuttiest, most intense, most powerful and dangerous drug I have ever used.

I think Kronos has tried mebroqualone but he didn't say too much on it so i'm still curious to hear reports myself.

PV was some psychotic shit man. I don't know if its one of those that effect people in radically different ways but i just couldn't live with it. That said, a big part of it was that this was well before i joined BL so there was no such thing as reports from people who had used it long term and still seemed healthy. When i tried it i got so thrown out by how this thing sustained all day off a tiny dose, giving you hellish paranoia and making you feel you had an electic shock or something. Since it was just me ordering the drugs to myself and not having mates that wanted to branch out beyond pills and things to try a lot of my gear, except for mephedrone, i just kinda took the decision that mdpv was a potential ruiner. It just seemed so different to any other drug i'd tried before i just didn't really have the balls to keep taking it.

ahaha

After that post brimz made in gibberings im steering far clear of that shit. never seen a batshit crazy post like that on a forum, ever

Although saying that, some of the bollocks ive come out with on MXE has been on par
