But that guy was pronouncing it wrongly, it's probably how the locals refer to it, like in Wales Llanidloes gets reffered to as Llanie and Machynleth as Mach and that insanenly named railway station is called Llanfair PG for short etc. You can use the word missisipi to count seconds as it takes 1 second to say 1 missisipi, as in that film Poltergesit where the kids were counting how soon they could hear the thunderbolts after the lightening strikes.
I was once dared by my friend in primary school to ask the headmaster how to spell llanfairpwllgwyngylgwyndobwyllatisilogogoch as we all had spelling books that he would write the correct spelling of words for. The last laugh was on me though as he got me to repeat the whole thing 3 times before he finally just wrote Llanfair PG in my spelling book. Damn, you couldnt get one over on that guy.
