Have you seen Primer? That's a headfuck of a time travel film, must have seen it 5 or 6 times now and read a massive explanation online and I still don't quite get it.

Started watching it last night. think im gonna have to end up watching it a few times lol.. Just read it was made on a $7000 budget as well

It really really is that bad. Imagine Robocop with all the violence, all the satire and all the humour removed. What is left? A bad actor in a silly costume. It's appallingly bad. I'm guessing they're aiming it at the kids/teen market as some kinda superhero-type film cos it bears no relation to Robocop other than the suit being a bit similar - and even then only in bits cos it's all sleek and black for most of the film. Truly terrible. I really wanted to like it and even if it was just a bit shit I'd probably have forgiven it if they'd at least kept the spirit of the original but they literally stripped every good thing about it out and left an empty vacant husk of a film. It's shit.

It really really is that bad - its a disaster of a movie!

I went to the cinema the other day and watched Maleficent :D (we both really enjoyed it).

Also watched The Grand Budapest hotel - strange movie and worth a watch, Afflicted - first person view type of movie but was pretty good.

Miniscule valley of the lost ants - would love to see this on BlueRay copy that is going about at the moment quite low resolution but still a fun movie.

Don't forget if you like the style of primer try his other film Upstream Colour (mentioned above) - that's going to take me a few re-watches. I like it even better than primer (but might be too vague for some)

Saw a few good films recently:

Mr Nobody - quite good sci-fi/memory loss-type of thing; a bit confusing (i really should try and watch films without the dissos) but worth a watch (not confusing like upstream colour...).

The Fountain - few years old, huge ackman and rachel weisz - pretty good sci-fi (bit cloud atlasy)

Her - by spike jonze: joaquim phoenix falls in love with his OS; mostly sort of about relationships and love, but some good sci-fi (made me think).

Mulholland drive - sure everyone's seen it, but just got round to it (david lynch, no need to review (for me))

Extracted - sci-fi, fucking with memory-type storyline (i watch so many of these type of films they all overlap a bit). Pretty good.

Everyone needs to watch 'Faith in chaos' Its a really good film and never seen anything else like it. It is also titled 'pie' but pie as in the math symbol which I do not know how to get the keyboard to show the symbol. Anyway watch it as it is a great film. Has anyone seen it?

That film's got dark connotations (Pi in the absence of the symbol)- A guy I was with at Uni had been hammering mushies for a week solid (this was when you could buy them in head shops). He then did mescaline and watched it - long story short - messiah complex, assault, sectioned under the mental health act and put on anti-psychotics for the rest of his life. But I'm sure everyone here is stable enough to handle it :D

Watched 1000 ways to die in the west - Really didn't like it, few laughs now and again but so boring.

You had the best idea -it didn't get any better. There were a few laughs but overall it was pretty bad - glad it was free :D

I've seen the trailer for that - that was enough for me.

I actually quite like family guy sometimes (far more than it deserves - weird paradox of knowing it's cheap and lazy, but laughing along anyway), but Seth Macfaralne is definitely a cheesemonger of the highest order and should not be allowed on screen.

Family guy is decent... or was anyway. American dad has grown on me a lot

Reckon I'll go see this tomorrow afternoon:

Don't think there's a theatre thread, but I'm going to see a play called 'Mr Burns' soon - not read any reviews yet, but sounds like an interesting idea: Set in a post-apocalyptic future where the religion is based on an episode of The Simpsons. Was a hit in New York apparently. Hope it's good because the plays I've seen this year have all been a bit of a let-down so far.

Yeh, I think American Dad is actually the better show now (though not as good as Family Guy in its prime). It breaks my heart to say it, but even contemporary family guy episodes are better than current Simpsons episodes. It actually really annoys me that some twats have made sure one of the best tv programmes of all time continues to churn out shit well past its sell-by-date, effectively destroying its legacy. Harry Shearer even admits it's a crock now and has said he's only doing it for the money (he got in trouble for it, but what can they do? The actors are the only thing keeping the corpse animated).

This is what happens when things are written by huge committees - you can keep it going at a reasonable quality for a bit longer than otherwise, but when things have gotten irretrievably poor, no one has the power, vision or authority to pull the plug.

Ah yeah Pi not pies haha. The film has a really good sound track as well. I think it must be at least a good 10 years old now? Did you watch it yourself mate?
