haha na i havent got the knee down yet, like i said this is my first bike and its fuckin insane like .. but im getting better :) gimmie a couple more weeks n i'll get em down :) .. yeh i do enjoy the feeling of wearing n walking about in my leathers like, sorts the men out from the boys like :) .. however i do fancy some new leathers, im growin sick of my ones :)

nice bike you got there felix n cletus.. i may have to partake in a visit to scotland in the summer n go for a ride with you lads, would be fun like :)

Your mate and cletus are fuckin headers, i dunno how you handle that power like.. the 600 creates some arse-twitchin moments like lol .. i did manage to get to 159 tonight, but she didnt wanna go the extra 1mph to the 160 lol.. but i will get there, one day!! *shakes fist*

Well... in my mate's case, he can't. Which is why I had to slow down for him a few times on that run. Even though I have a badly-squared off back tyre thanks to our biking holiday last year (3000 miles, most of it on motorways), so I was taking it easy. ;) And I don't think I'm fast by any standards, really.

Getting a nice new back tyre next week though. Bridgestone Battlewing. Similar design to the standard Trailwings but more road-oriented, i.e. stickier. %)

I wouldn't worry too much about your top speed, mate. I would be more impressed by your ability to go round corners without killing yourself. ;)

haha not the best idea goin for the thou then.. oohh dear the aul square tyres aint too fun to ride on lol, i jus bought a new set of pirelli corsa's for mine, and a nice ART can, but had to take that off for MoT :( seeing as it's a race can lol .. Tyre's arnt too cheap like, i was quite shocked at the price lol..

Yeh the cornering is getting easier and easier every run, and if i'm pumped up i can atleast get the toe down :P lol

Where did you go on your biking holiday, me and a few mates we're planning on doing a biking holiday next year, from here to amsterdam.. you have any recomendation's of where to visit on the trip?

Our bike trip:

So you're going to the Dam on bikes? Hmmm... if you're looking for recommendations of places to go, choose one of these:

FRANCE FRANCE FRANCE FRANCE FRANCE
FRANCE FRANCE FRANCE FRANCE FRANCE
FRANCE FRANCE FRANCE FRANCE FRANCE

:D

How many of you are going? For how long? How are you getting over to Europe? Do you have a route in mind? What kind of bikes have yis got? Just tell me everything, basically. :)

moopE, i'll answer your PM question here. We took the ferry from Rosyth to Zeebrugge. Next time we'll hopefully be catching it at Newcastle where it should be much cheaper with more availability.

I certainly wouldn't recommend riding down the entire length of England. Catch the ferry up north, get pished, go to sleep and you wake up 'on holiday' abroad, yay! =D (With the added bonus that you don't square off yer tyres before you get there ;))

so far there are 4 of us going, well 3 on bikes then 1 car with a coupla mates in that, and our luggage :P .. We were thinking a good 2 weeks, maybe less maybe longer, that bit hasn't been fully decided yet..

Our route is basically from belfast and ferry across to scotland, drive down to dover then across into calais, spend a few days in and around there then push on round through belgium, maybe even with a stop there to the netherlands.. or another idea was to go straight to 'dam with no stops, spend time there, then make the stops on the way back through europe.. What would you suggest?

Well I'm going on my Gixxer (pictured above), not exactly the most comfortable ride i know, but atleast i dont have any luggage restrictions due to the car :) .. and the other bikes are a cbr 600rr and a kwaker ninja lol, we don't know what the car is yet, due to him looking for a new one as we speak lol :)

But yeh, france is definatly on our places to stop :) .. we were wondering was it worth pushing out further into europe after the netherlands?

:)

*EDIT*

I do like the sound of that added bonus of having nice round tyres lol :) .. i think that might be an option, due to it being alot easier (cheaper and alot faster) to get a boat across to scotland than down to england.. How much was the ferry across to Zeebrugge?

Pekkie, i would imagine there will be a stop in belgium, i have been once before but i was a young pup (still am mind you) and can't remember much of it lol .. Plus belgian beer is unbeatable so i can't imagine us passing up the oppertunity to taste it in it's homeland :P lol

You can get ferries from Scotland (can't remember where in Scotland), Newcastle and Harwich to Holland. :)

Not that I'm a proper expert on driving / riding around Europe, but honestly with that itinerary I think you'd be pushed for time if you drove much further than that. You'd get more bang for your buck if you got the ferry further up in Newcastle or Norwich time wise though, as opposed to riding all the way down to Dover. :\

Germany might be doable, but that would mean a lot less time in France.

EDIT: I meant Harwich, but that's not that far from Norwich anyway. ;)

Thanks for the important safety advice pekkie, never thought of that. 8) :p ;)

I don't remember how much the ferry cost, but I'll check with my mate. I do know that Newcastle is considerably cheaper than Rosyth though. Plus you don't *need* to get a cabin, you can just get a seat. Or get pished and fall asleep in the bar. <ahem> :o

Here is a handy cut out n' keep map of our route last year. We did almost exactly 3000 miles in 2 weeks. And this was a VASTLY cut down version of our original plan, which was completely unrealistic.

So you're taking a car, eh? :| How's that gonna work then? Are they going to catch up with you at the places you're staying at?

yeh basically, we (the real men on bikes ;) ) are gonna take a set of clothes with us in a backpack, because lets face it leathers arnt the most comfortable of clothing to be walking about in, then when we get to our destinations and wait till they catch up.. because well, naturally they won't be able to keep up :) .. We were happye nough bringing all our clothing etc. with us on the bikes but he begged us to come along (he has done the trip before) and said he would take all our excess bags :) .. cant complain about it really :)

We would rather get to spend time in the main places, rather than cover a scary amount of miles ya know, but we still wanna see as much as possible, we are gonna try and keep it realistic :) but you know how we all get excited about road trips :D lol

That map looks roughly what we were thinking, except we wernt gonna go as south as that :)

Hmm the getting pished and falling asleep at the bar then waking up at some unholy hour, and getting onto the back of the horse for a 200 mile ride sounds like an experience in itself :) lol

hehe. we didn't get off the ferry till about 1300, so everyone was completely sober. plus we only had about 10 miles to go, from zeebrugge to brugges. :)

just spoke to my mate - he tells me the ferry was £1300 for 4 of us. 8o and that was for:

4 seats on the way over

2 seats & 1 deluxe cabin on the way back (which we all crashed in). that was all we could get booked cos we left it pretty late.

he is now telling me that the newcastle ferry goes to THE DAM, not zeebrugge! and it's half the price of the last one. =D

^No, because their too scary! :p :D

He is quite an unhinged character, eh?

Felix used to have a video clip of a guy on his bike, on his journey home from work or something. Possibly Greek? Words cannot describe how fucking stupid & dangerous this person is. He'll have to post it or give us the address.

I gotta do my bastard test again as my Irish licence has expired in the time I have been away:(

At least the UK licence lasts 50 years! Got my CBT in ten days, theory and test in the month after. If this loan comes through I will be on the road before then though;)

Jude my main man. I didn't realise you were Irish I shall never comment on your nudie thread pictures again. I never realised there were so many Irish on this forum, I feel more at home every day.

Like everywhere else on the planet, we have slowly infiltrated Bluelight!

Yeah, from Clare originally. Been away a bit now. Yourself?

Well I am officially Irish and British as I have two passports but I've lived in Coleraine in Northern Ireland all my life.
