DO IT!

how often do jobs like that come up in your field? i could be wrong, but it looks like it could have been written just for you. it's an omen. 8o

really? oh well. i didn't realise geeks like you were ten a penny. maybe you should just wait for a 'better' opening. ;)

My commute for my new job will be 2 mins to the station, 5 mins on the train and 2 mins to work :D Weirdly, if I were to drive it'd probably take 3 times as long not because of rush hour but the backwards way you have to get there.

My part timey job is only a walk up the hill as well.

I hate long travels to work.

i've commuted to exactly the same area before, for about 8 months. it's not just the actual commuting time, it's the fact that you've to get up early as fuck to beat the worst of the traffic. and by the time you get home you're knackered and can't be arsed doing anything. every day i did it, a little piece of me died inside. :\

it would be 70 miles every day. my car only gets about 18mpg. you do the math(s). (cos i can't be arsed. ;))

this is one of the main reasons i want to go offshore. i don't want to commute.

i was so spoiled in my last job. 4 minutes away from the house. *cries*
Yeah I'd advise against doing that as well, no matter how good the money is. I have to commute that far to work when I'm staying at my Mum's place (only 2 or 3 nights a week now thank fuck), and the journey is a nightmare plus petrol is ridiculous. Used to do it 5 or 6 days a week, but a lot of the time now I stay at my boyfriends place who lives much closer to work than I do.

Oh well, hopefully I'll be moving to a different state in the next 6-12 months anyway. :)

This job thing is pissing me off, startning from now my full time job is applying for jobs. From 9-5.

I've applied for 18 so far today.

so how is your quest for freedom going, fishy? :)

and how is your commute?
I've gone down to a 4-day week, starting week before last, ostensibly to give me time to work out how to make a living outside of my profession, although I have to admit that so far I've spent the time working in the garden 8)

As for my commute, it's approximately 125 yards, door to door %)

Well if you will run a Ferrari, what do you expect? :p ;)

what the fuck, I'm filling out a application for a job at the DWP and one of the sexual preferences is "asexual"

I'm on the dole, it really is not enough money, but it does me, y'know?
I don't want a job. It's my number one goal in life. I've half a plan to go back to college and then to uni, but I don't know if I will. I think I should though, you know, because it means I don't have to work. And not working 9-5 is key.

Put omnisexual!

I know a couple of people that work for them, it's good money compared to the same sort of work in other places.

I'd put sexerific.

Reckon it's equal ops? So if you put gay they might have to take you to meet their quota. It is the government after all.

Any other good places to look for jobs? I've been using JobCentre/s1jobs with little sucess.

i haven't even bothered with them, they don't have the kind of jobs i'm after. same goes for www.monster.com, but that might be worth a look for you?

all of my job hunting on the internet is based around job agencies (nearly all based in aberdeen). just google for glasgow job agencies and have a look. you can submit your CV and setup job alerts which they will email to you.

what are you looking for?

Just general admin/data entry

wtf is up with most sites only accepting .doc files - I thought .pdf was the standard accepted format for cvs?

I registered to monster.co.uk yesterday, coincidentally. Put up a placeholder CV that just said "chemistry graduate, bsc, nottingham uni, 2:1, gizza job" and some woman from a massive chemical company rang me up at 9:30 this morning to see if I was interested in a chemistry job. Sorting them out a half-decent stab at a CV now.

How motivating! =D
