EADD Gardening Club: Ploughing FUBAR's infertile Fields

oh yes all go again = ) spuds r in and been doing lots o de stoning so hoping fo the best parsnips in town this year, sadly the olive trees have fucked up on the allot, only two left, the other 2 r doing well in pots though, its nice to have that bit of solar energy back, feel motivated by it all = )

Oh god I'm so flipping lazy, havent even dug my beds letalone got spuds in. Should have had my chillis planted to germinate at least a month ago :(

A lot of grass died in my garden this winter due to leaf and car parts coverage.

Must do something about it this week in time for grill weather.

It's a rented place so there's nothing else bar some brick, wood and a palm tree we got somewhere.

Im a bit lazy too... should have started seeding indoors a while ago...

However, Next week Im going to be seeding some plants to be sown outdoors once the weather gets nicer out <3 CANT WAIT! This year we are growing tomatoes, cucumbers, chili's/ peppers, cilantro and strawberries. Yummy :)

if it's a 'good' cactus just eat it = ) or if not: have you been over watering again? they are pretty strong either way.. check soil is not too peaty.. pic poss?

Sadly not a 'good' cactus but I'm intending on acquiring a few in the near future :)

Could possibly have over-watered it as I've only recently taken an interest in plants and the like and when you're younger you assume all plants need water all the time. He's done well to keep going, got a pic now, camera was acting up yest.

He doesn't usually live there, was just easier to take a pic. Usually takes residence in front of my window. See what I mean though, the bottom looks all dried out and dead whereas the top few inches look fairly lively.

Edit: Bonus garden pictures:

Back garden. It's taken years to get it like this, it was a building site not so long ago.

Can't wait til these trees grow. Not entirely sure what they are.

This pond-y thing is usually full. Dunno why it's been drained. Nice view when it's actually got water in and it attracts loads of wildlife. As such our garden frequently plays home to swans, kingfishers, sheep and, for one summer a few years ago, a peacock.

And these little fellas are flourishing nicely all round the front garden :D

The front garden is still a bit of a building site at the moment, though it has its charms. I'm wanting the side garden for a vegetable patch. It doesn't get much in the way of sun but I recall growing various veggies there when I was a little 'un.

I decided to chop all the brambles out of the garden today, though a stray rose also god whacked.

edit: coincidentally can anyone recommend shady loving plants that don't requite a lot of attention?

right e o... its pretty bad.. kill it =D

ok ok- mercy kill is option 3. surgery is option 2. option 1 for me would be try to get a much, very much deeper pot. re pot the bugger with soil sand mix and bring the level of the soil up to the top level of the wasted looking area. Might survive.. worth a try?

Clear as mud?

Haha damn I thought it'd be bad. Shall try option 1 then first and if not I guess I'll operate. Cheers :D

You have a huge pond in your garden Snolly? Do you live on a farm or something?

Hehe nah but I'd love to. It backs on to our garden but there's no fence and we can frolic freely there so it might as well be our garden. We're considering buying the land because it's been drained and basically abandoned and it's a bit of an eyesore at the moment. Plus it stinks in summer if there's no water.

Green with envy, I am, Snolls, green =D

Well, we've trays of seedlings doing their stuff on just about every horizontal surface near a window, while the beds have all been tidied up and a few new plants put in :D

That'd be awesome if you bought it.

Feel free to come frolic and plant in our garden, the front could do with a lot of work and I'm sure my parents would appreciate it ;)

It would be awesome if we bought it, apart from the creepy old building. It's weird.

Am thinking of doing some cactus surgery tomorrow and also buying some cactuses of the 'good' variety later this week, not sure which yet. Main selling point will be aesthetics :D

Off to plant the camomile I bought tomorrow as well. I'm thinking of camomile and chilli tea when my chilli plants finally fruit. Could be interesting...

Always found valerian grew quite well in such conditions (& it has a use as a herbal sedative if you can get past the sweaty socks smell - my cats seem to revel in that smell though; they like it as much, if not moreso, than catnip)

sprayed my whole garden with roundup yesterday so it should kill all the weeds in a few weeks
in the mean time im going out with the trimmers and going to start tidying up the leaves and brances off some of the trees and plants

going to have to chop down some trees too i think, my dad was always in the back garden and planted loads of trees and the gardens really not that big so i think ill chop a few of them down to make space for wwhatever im gona put there next

Was making some food in the kitchen yesterday and noticed my mams new seeds resting in a pot of water on the window sill - Morning Glory, Heavenly Blue! =D

She's planting them today and apparently they should be ready by June, for me to sneak out an harvest.

I was thinking about planting them outside in a few locations, does anyone know what type of place would be good for planting a few seeds and seeing what comes up? Or maybe Hawaiian Baby Woodrose?

Will try some then, just to see what the cat thinks of it.

How much attention does valerian demand Mr Bulbous? And is the smell noticeable when outside? I'd rather like to grow some as it gives me wicked dreams and have been given carte blanche to fill in the gaps in the garden, but although the smell doesn't bother me I can see it bothering others.
