hahaha wtf i was actually looking for a pic of that the other day and couldn't find it, what did you search for??

I got my right conch done today. I wanted the left one done too, but they wouldn't let me. I think I'm gonna get those captive rings taken out too when I go back to get the other side done. I preferred it when I had bars in.

Not snobbery - but piercing guns really should be illegal. They cause so much shit its unreal. Just google reasons for piercing guns being made illegal and youll get plenty of links about it. Needle is safer and more hygenic (a piercing gun can't be autoclaved like piercing equipment and needles are single use). Id rather not risk getting someone elses blood bourne diseases thanks to something that isnt guaranteed to be 100% sterile.

ALL professional piercers use needles and highly object to guns - I think that speaks for itself really.

She's right about this, not only can those piercing guns not be properly sterilised, the way they work is to force a relatively blunt object (the stud) through the flesh, which can cause quite a lot of trauma. They are adequate for piercing ear lobes but that's about it, I would not have anything else done with them, and most especially not any kind of cartilage piercing (the trauma of forcing a slightly-sharp stud through cartilage is asking for trouble.) Piercing needles are cleaner, sharper, and a hell of a lot quicker and safer.

That looks really sweet!

My conch, it just got too painful. Wearing a headset at work didn't help either. Still have a scar from where it started to mess with the shape of my ear. It prevented happy sleepings on one side.

I have my septum pierced and a full back tattoo that I need to have touched up and the colors changed.

I also sell body jewelry, mostly hand carved organic stuff....Tigers Eye plugs, Amethyst, Moon faces carved from mother of pearl, dragons, bone carvings, spirals with abalone shell, wings, and stuff like that.

Cheersthanksalot. :)

Too bad yours turned out that way. I had a really good female piercer this time, and she was saying it's one of the piercings you have to be really careful with. You can't miss a day of cleaning or it'll "end up lookin' like a rice crispy". =D

And yeah, the reason they wouldn't do both sides is cuz of the sleeping thing. It's just that cartilage takes forever to heal on me, and I wanted to kill two birds with one stone. Just as well they said no though cuz I was kinda expecting them to for the very same reasons. It's good to know some piercers are still looking out for your health and not just out to grab your cash. :)

^ Yours is pierced differently to mine.

Mine went through inside bit, and came out the flesh bit same side directly underneath. Hard to explain, but that made it really difficult to heal. It was through more cartilage that way. I think she actually pierced it incorrectly, as all the photo's i've just googled have it going in the front and out the back......?

I can still feel the scarring.

I'm getting my daith redone soon! I only gave up on that as I couldn't get the ball closure back on it.

AHhh i like the past couple of piercings, very snazzy, would like a nape one myself, and conch ones are pretty cool...

Bit of a weird/crappy pic, but here's my conch one... bit higher up than yours tribal, and it took months n months to heal but seems fine now. Taking the bar out and seeing a wee hole through the middle is pretty cool %)

Next ones i'll get will probably be another few cartilage need a think though, and probably the lobe but a bit higher up, not quite sure tho.

I got a high lobe one the other day, already healing nicely, so much less hassle than a cartilage piercing! I'm not allowed too many obvious ones at work sadly, also got a helix but round whiere my ear joins on to my head (dunno what its called) and a rook on the other side, that may be my limit :(

I want a conch, grr, jealous!

^That sucks. :|

I remember I actually asked my boss permission to get a vertical labret once, and he said no. In hindsight I should of just got it anyway. But I'm kinda glad I didn't cuz I quickly went off the idea. But the very fact that he said no, only made me wonna get it even more. I'm still working for the same company I was then, and I do what the hell I want now. Maybe that's why they tucked me away and made me 'office manager'. =D

edit: did a bit of DIY last night. Removed the captive rings using my guitar string cutters (not recommended, yet effective LOL :D). T'was a bastard putting the bars back in, but I got there in the end. The whole process made me sweat a lil' bit though. =D

OK, five days on and the conch is somewhat inflamed and red. There's hardly any room to move the bar back and forth. Yet I can't say it feels really uncomfortable, just a bit annoyed by the swelling. Is it normal for it to be swollen five days on?.

I've been cleaning it twice a day with sea salt soaks. It might be that I accidentally slept on it, thus causing some irritation. I'm gonna try submerging the entire ear in a disposable cup and see if that helps. I might be moving the jewellery too much or summink. It's just really difficult to clean behind the ear properly. Anyone care to share their thoughts?.

^ Very normal.

It's one of the most slow healing piercings there is.

Mine healed, was fine, then the slightest knock sent it skywards again, rinse repeat.

That's a very good idea. I used to do that, tip my head to one side and stay that way for half a min or so. It really helped it.

Hmm, that's reassured me somewhat. Thank you. :)

I was warned at the time of the piercing that it could be quite troublesome, and they used a longer bar in case of swelling. But it seems like in the last two days, it's become quite irritated. I've been taking ibuprofen to help bring the swelling down and that's helped a fair bit. Anyhoo, I'll get on with the cup thing, and perhaps clean away crusties with a cotton bud from now on. I've even cut my hair shorter and rinsed most of the hair dye off to prevent any infection. :)

Yeps, i got told the same thing. She even said I don't do this one often, as it's a difficult one to handle. I had a long bar put in too to handle swelling. I was taking ibuprofen for two weeks just after getting it done to keep swelling down and deal with pain.

I found that when I stopped fiddling with and cleaning it with it it seemed to sort itself out, but it took a few months to get to that stage.

Eventually I got tired of not being able to give my boyfriend or anyone a cuddle without yelping if they caught it accidently, or sleep on the same side as it. So I gave it the shove.

Give it time yet , it is a difficult one.
