EADD Body Modification Thread

few months between gauges for ears? have never had to leave that long, they're normally good to go as soon as they feel "slack" around the current jewellery which isn't normally much longer than a month for me.

It depends on the gauge. Going from a 12 gauge to a 10 gauge is not big deal. Going from 00 to 7/16 is a bigger stretch.

And its different for everyone....the main thing is that you dont want to stretch too fast because it builds scar tissue and scar tissue makes it harder to stretch and it ends up stretching unevenly and your hole will look like a cats butt when nothing is in it. Sometimes it does anyway.

I found the opposite, the small stretches were the hardest and most painful and they get easier as they get bigger. Mine have very little scar tissue in and are too big too look like cats arses when jewellery free but do resemble them slightly when they shrink back down a bit haha.

^Stretching from 8-10 was fookin' agonising for me. I almost passed out. :|

Every other stretch has been fine though. Mind you, I don't jump sizes anymore.

I've always done 2mm at a time, was just the norm when i started doing it i think. my lobes have been up and down in size for 8 years now hah :D

I got my snug pierced 10 days ago. I'd always wanted it done, but it's turning out to be the piercing of all the one's i've shoved in myself that's given me the most trouble. Too much cartlidge to be meddled with.

I been on ibuprofen daily for the swelling, as it's supposed to swell for aaaages and take 6 months to heal. I've had to adjust my sleeping position for piercings before, but this takes the biscuit.

The piercer took a photo for her website as she said nobody ever really gets it pierced. I think I know why!

The snug is this, though it's not my ear. I also have my anti tragus done, just under it.

Bugger that. I wanted to get a conch on both ears, but the idea of another cartilage piercing doesn't exactly fill me with joy. First tragus took 9 months to heal, second one took a year. :|

I must have been lucky with my tragus. Was healed within 3 months. Even my tongue was well on the way to properly healed within a month. Tongue split was healed within a week.

See, I never had trouble with tragus or anti tragus. Or daith or rook, which are both quite solid cartlidge piercings. Helix however, OOOOOUUUUUUWCH!

I think conch would be okay you know. It's not through as much solid cartilage. I don't think I could cope with two at once to deal with though.

i've had a rook done which is just above a snug and both conches and were all the most bastardly piercings to heal in the world, my cartilage does not like being pierced. just the lobes and tongue x 2 left for me.

my cartilage just doesn't take kindly to holes, always keloids and takes forever to heal

^ I have exactly the same problem. Keloids are caused by trauma. Try getting pierced somewhere where they don't use cannula needles (often more expensive but better knowledge). It makes a MASSIVE difference.

I've always found the forked tongue to be the most hardcore of the body mods. One of my mates had magnet implants put under his skin too, that must have been quite a strange sensation.

I haven't read through all of this thread, but how much anaesthesia do you get given when it's done?

Haha yeah I was thinking: "there sure are a LOT more hardcore body mods than tongue splitting out there."

None. Body mod artists are not legally allowed to give you anything that's not available off the shelf. You could bring your own stuff if you want, but there are more than a few places that won't knowingly work on your if you've had anything.

I did my tongue myself and had a dose of codeine waiting and a few ciders to drink. When you split your tongue the bleeding stops very quickly.

I guess I'm quite naive in this field! Don't have mates that are into it. Have a mate of a mate who got a lot done and I was quicte shocked at the forked tongue.

So you had a "V" cut out of your tongue without any anaesthetic? 8o

You don't cut a V, you cut a stright line from a piercing hole to the tip. Once you've cut it, the way the muscle pulls it makes a V.
No anaesthetic, indeed.

This was about 10 minutes after I did it.
