20mg valium and I'm still functional, 2mg of xanax is another story. Xanax hits harder and is loopier.
Interesting. Might start with a half then.

Might be able to get hold of some xanax bars soon. What's a good starting dose? I usually take about 20mg diazepam for a chilled out evening with a couple of spliffs. Would one 2mg xanax be about the same?
Still need to try Xanax
dont think im gonna bother with etiz anymore, even though my tolerance is low and i dont take many, i get racey thoughts a couple days after
I few drinks isn't going to do any harm but watch out you don't switch to boozing and end up with a problem with that.
I'm loathed to suggest getting some of not but at the same time you need to be in control.
Disagree, with a taper it's often better to NOT be in control: having to make-do with a limited supply.
Not IME but YMMV, I've never been beholdent to a GP for drugs, I don't like the idea at all.
Ultimately you can get hold of pretty much anything, Benzos easily so it's down to yourself if you kick a habit.
I can only speak from my experience and I'm not criticising your standpoint, I assume it worked for you

Alcohol and benzos are cross-tolerant, drinking to easen a benzo taper will set back your GABA system's regenerative process. It's better to get a non-GABA sleeping pill, maybe some promethazine or mirtazepine. Also, a light dose of pregabalin helps me tremendously with benzo wd.
Tapers suck and they always seem to go too fast. Getting more pills and dragging it out always seems the most attractive option at the time. But in this case I'd really stick with the 5mg taper cos it all sounds fairly mild (relatively) and you aren't suffering from psychotic symptoms and/or dangerous CNS symptoms (extreme blood pressure + heart rate and heavy palpitations). Sounds like you're in light/moderate WD, at most (yep, the hole goes deep).
I disagree strongly as you would probably expect .
Much rather have a legit script of a trusted Medical Professional ( yeah i know they are hard to find) than have to gamble on getting what could be anything off the Internet .
Also with a script you get given the pills or liquids in sensible amounts rather than having a big tub of em in the house , that can only be bad thing imo.
You knew i would say this though :D
true but my doc has a few years left in him & there is another one in the surgery that will write my benzo's n oxy so not really that worried tbh .
