sorry i shouldt have mentioned the tapeworm. the changes of getting one are tiny and you can eliminate them by drying out the shrooms or boiling them. plus its not going to do you much harm anyway even if you do get one. it can be like your new pet.
 
I have never seen maggots untill i tried drying some argarics ... the mushrooms where completely replaced with a brown seething pile of maggots within a day .... was bad .....

Tis gettin cold and the fuckin rain is very off and on ... still tho once more into the breach ... hopefull bout tomorow .. bin having dreams about them everynight almost ...
 
^yeah man fly agarics need to be handled very carefully - as soon as I get them I slice them into 8ths then very thin slices - bust a thread through each slice with a needle, then hang it over the oven/airing cupboard - I usually hang it in the kitchen over the oven door andd they usuaally dry to a nice standard within a day or 2 - can't remember - I did it last year.

They taste fuckin rank, and qualitatively I don't know about the trip as the only time I've taken them I took them with liberty caps, in small amount. It made the trip more sleepy and slightly more twinkly but that was about all I noticed.

Speaking of pookies - Mmmm picked about 200 before breakfast yesterday - same golf course, never seen so many there (well, ANY usually) before - I recall tales of one of my old hippie head mates been spreading them about becausse so many people are liming or spraying fungicide in their fields. Good effort!

Then this afternoon on my way into the vill I came across around 50 - 2/3 wind and sun dried and glowing golden in the sun - fucking gorgeous. This has been a nice season so far.

EDIT: AAAAAAAAAAND I found 10(well found about 20 but left the others) big ass Fly Agarics this afternoon- sliced and drying as I type.

Found 114 so far. Gonna go for another look round the field on Monday as I'm away for the weekend. Hopefully I can double that number.
 
Last Saturday myself & 3 mates picked ~350 between us.
Since then my housemate has picked about another 250 along with a few fly agarics.
So ~600 drying/dried at the moment. Hope to bring that up to 1000 by Sunday as I can only go picking on the weekends.
Definately a good season so far. Hopefully any consecutive days of frost will hold off for as long as possible.
 
^ Nice one! I might just have to bribe my housemate to go picking for me while I'm at work next week! :D
I tried one of our dead-cert fields one evening after work this week (around 6/6:30pm) but it was too dark to see them properly.

Our picking fields are only a 10 minute walk from our house so I'll prob go out a few times on Sat & Sun. Wanna stock up while the fields are covered! %) Metocin is no match for psilocin or psilocybin.
 
Just wanted to say, I'm from Belgium, near Ghent. I found a hotspot and harvested 180grams (divided by three harvesters) the first time, then (a week later) 500 grams (divided by 2) and today (again week later) I harvested about 1kg (divided by two again)... fuck yea! drying them on slightly hot stove, should be about 40-50 grams dry lib caps! Woot!
 
Just about to scoot on down to my field. last saturday the farmer was about but buggered off about 2ish, so todays visit is well timed

I keep checking out a few new potential places whenever I go for a forage too, just to make sure if this place ever becomes a no-no I'll have something to fall back on.

Anyway, it's been raining the past few days up here, so today should be a good 'un.
 
There was a fog here this morning which bodes well. No doubt there will be a lot of picking going on today. I cant get out until about Tuesday though dammit.

It'll be good if we can all trip at the same time. Have you been shrooming on here lately?

Acid4blood: the samples of liberties you posted in your pics are seriously some of the loveliest, most perfect samples I've ever seen. true perfection. You're a lucky guy to have a field producing that on your radar <3

my fave ROA: luke warm cuppa soup (100mls ish) ... with a sprinkling of my favourites on top. Left to infuse for about 20 minutes .. then drink. Lovely tasting .. never rejected by the stomach and not throttled to death by boiling

Total perfection for me. effects within 10 minutes on an empty stomach

I like mixing crushed dried shrooms into apple sauce. Serve with a slice of apple cake and a cup of tea for a thoroughly genteel experience.
 
You been up on the moor yet Vader? i got some monster shroooms on Sunday. They're all over the place.

I might go up again at the weekend. Give me a shout if you fancy it.
 
There is so many shrooms round here it is apalling, I have no intention of eating them though, I just stand on them when I go for a walk. Dried liberty caps can be ground down into a powder and gelcapped, reconstituting them in soup sounds revolting!

I agree, soups, teas, fucking APPLE SAUCES :? , all sound foul.

Dried, powdered and eaten. Or alcohol tincture.

Still not tried any of this years harvest. I really think this year is gonna be a bumper year, local anyway, the bit of the moor I go to has better crop up there than I've seen for the last 8-9 years..
 
Not been up yet, but you really are selling it to me! Been in Briz and London a bit, back in Briz next weekend, but I am definitely going to make it up there at some point, I'll let you know when.

If someone who has tried Bramley mush and Lib powder mixed together comes in and says it's rank, I'll concede, but until then, don't knock it 'til you've tried it.
