Just like the question says. I always hear people saying that a LOW dose anywhere from 15mg to 90mg of DXM 30 mins to 1 hour before taking Oxycodone is best to control tolerance... Although I've never read anyone say what's the recommended RATIO? What if you are taking low doses? Example: If you only are taking 10MG of Oxycodone, how much DXM beforehand would be the proper dosage then? 1:1 ratio? That seems kinda high ratio. It seems like 50% of the Oxycodone dosage would equal the proper DXM dosage to help tolerance, so in this case 5mg of DXM before the 10mg of Oxycodone would help tolerance. Or? Anyone know? (also read below, I asked if even 5mg of dxm would be enough to even "start causing nmda action or not")
Also: if you are taking 10MG of Oxycodone every 4 hours (so 6 times daily, a total of 60mg daily), should you take a low-dosage like 5mg of DXM before each dosage? This would mean taking DXM 6 times per day. Seems like perhaps too much. Although it's low doses..
So would taking the extended release DXM (dxm polistirex or whatever it's called) be a better choice? ALTHOUGH IF YOU TAKE THE EXTENED RELEASE, then how would you adjust the dosage??? What would the proper ratio be now, since it's extended release? Would taking 30mg of extended release DXM once in the morning be enough to control tolerance for the entire day if taking only 10MG of oxycodone 6 times daily?
Lastly: at what dosage does DXM have it's NMDA agonist properties? Since this is the whole reason it's believed to control tolerance, then knowing at what dosages it starts to have "NMDA Action" would be good to know. If at small dosages of 5mg DXM doesn't produce any "NMDA action" then it would be useless for tolerance, right? So is there any minimum dosage required of DXM to take for it to start having NMDA action? Or does ANY dosage of DXM work for causing NMDA action (therefore helping tolerance), even if only 5mg of dxm??
