DXM and AVATAR

A drug is a drug. Whether you like it or not, there are people who would defend these "shitty drugs" of yours with a slew of excellent reason.

Just because you don't like how a drug makes you feel doesn't make it bad. DXM is a very powerful hallucinogen bordering deliriant. I won't lie, my first third plateau trip scared the shit out of me. I looked like a monster in the mirror. Yet I still plan on doing it again with an open mind because I'm not judgmental.

I agree, yes, a drug is a drug. And IMO DXM is a 'shitty drug' for recreational purposes.

I've tried it a few times and I never got any profound mental shift like I do with LSD, mushrooms, MDMA, ketamine, nitrous etc. It just produced a huge body load and fucked with my depth perception (the robo-walk etc).

I just feel compared to the plethora of other psychedelic/dissociatives drugs out there it is a rather unenjoyable chemical. Compared to your standard psychdedelics like LSD or mushrooms, DXM is utter crap compared to them IMO. You may enjoy DXM and that's fine, I wish I liked it due to it being a legal high. I'm very open-minded and not judgmental but my opinion of not liking it is just as worthy of yours of liking it. A drug is a drug right? ;)

Haha, yeah I had a feeling it was your opinion, but just thought I'd share anyways.

Here's an interesting take though. Yes drugs are drugs, but compared to DXM, LSD is crap but compared to LSD, DXM is crap since they both are very different and one can't simply do what the other does.

Like if someone gives you DXM and tells you it's LSD, you're gonna be like "Wow, this is really bad stuff" when actually it's the shit they can't even sell in your local pharmacy. :P

^According to William White's DXM FAQ about 2/3 of people share your opinion. The way the metabolisms of the remainder process it makes it a worthwhile dissociative for them.

That said, if I'm considering using drugs for a film at a public theater I'd only use dissociatives for horror-ish stuff, since I find they really complement dark and moody, or bleak, films. Cannabis is a good choice for enhancing the glassy-eyed woah effect of big budget action blockbusters like Avatar. Anything but a light dose of LSD is problematic because of its length and the fact that it tends to cause more muscle tension and seat squirming than other psychedelics. Their length and profound effects make intramuscular DPT or 4-AcO-DMT nearly ideal for aesthetically beautiful films or mind fuckers (though duration of 4-AcO varies a lot between people). I've used them in a friend's car or in the bathroom of the theater before going in before. 4-AcO-DMT made Inland Empire less of a film and more of a life experience for me.

I've never used it, but I've read that 2C-D is also short acting.

thought about sending this thread to the Lounge but there's that damn 'NDTITL' thing.

I took LSD third time I saw Avatar in 3d iMax, it was pretty sick.

I think that DXM would be too heavy for films like that, I'm sure sure SURE I'd throw up.

I had this same idea(since there are no other good psychedelics available) but then I decided not. I've only had one experience with dxm and I couldn't play one game of COD lol. Time was distorted way to much and ten minutes lasted forever. A 3 hour movie would be fucking ridiculous.

But I'll still probably try it lol.

DXM is a shitty dissociative whose negative effects outweigh the positive ones.

Lets see if PD wants this
if not they can sand it back... I suppose.

Hey; PD isn't your trash can! ;) :p

We'll see where this goes. Being stuck in a seat in some theater crowded with people and some weird movie on the screen doesn't exactly fit with my idea of a good set/setting.

We sure are a long ways away from a forest or a sunset in the country.

Oh it's not that bad. They aren't drunk or yelling or anything. They're just sittin there watching a movie, just like you. I find it quite enjoyable to watch movies in the cinema on acid occasionally, especially since I don't particularly enjoy movies normally as I find them quite boring.

I saw avatar after I ate a couple of really good mull cookies. It was great, I must admit. I'd probably go with that if I was concerned about freaking out on acid or something.

I went to see Avatar at the Imax theater...but can't remember it at all because of too many roxies and valium :\ I'm with the person who suggested skipping Avatar for Alice in Wonderland 3-D on some mushies or maybe one hit of acid

hey i got a better idea for you, DXM and attempting to blend in with the shithole known as Downtown LA. i did that once, it was a fucking blast, i fit in flawlessly hahahahaha, damn i wanna do that again really badly.

I was thinking of taking some Mescaline and watching it, but it would probably just make it 2D again.

Just wanted to add, I saw it on a little acid and it was quite the experience. Patterns go between the new dimension they added!

If you can handle a crowd, this is what I would suggest. Although I did find it a little nauseating at times, I think it would be for me regardless of what I was on. I wouldn't take a high dose at all, but I think a psychonaut could handle it on a hit or two.

EDIT: It was my first time seeing this movie, any movie in a theater tripping, or any 3d movie. It was incredibly intense don't get me wrong, but I had an amazing time.

I would have thought mushrooms would have been more fitting for seeing 'Alice In Wonderland' considering the entire story is based on a mushroom trip if I'm not mistaken? I know it was written before LSD had been synthesized. Lewis Carroll (writer of Alice In Wonderland) was definitely tripping on something to come up with that. I look foward to seeing it.
