73 ans robbing a pharmacy, WTF, is the guy crazy? Given the fact that opana has been released, maybe the temptation was to great. Though I don't condone porperty crimes or armed assault, the fact that he would pull this shit at his age given he could probably find a croaker to Rx alot of these drugs at his age he'd have an easier time convincing a pain management Doc. Or maybe because they re-released seconal (Oregon allows euthanasia and I suspect that was the companies' rationale for buying the rights to this drug and retooling their assembly line to produce it. I have a sneaking suspicion Oregon is their #1 client.
At any rate,
Drugstore Cowboy is an excellent movie. Or maybe my second favorite period. Perry Ferrels's
The Gift, which is an indie film from the early 90s gets my vote as a grity portrayl of the LA stuff scene. Not to be mistaken with the mainstream movie of the same name.
Case you guys were wondering, the blues they talk of in the film arent valium or dilauid pills. They are oxymorphone which was discontinued but recently reintroduced under the trade name Opana. He probaly didn't find a bottle of hydrmorphone powder, but now they have 8 mg dillies as opposed to the mg max pill.
I think the guy might have been addicted to the rush of the crime as much as anything. To bad desperation led him down that path before he could get help/ Now if drugs were legalized?
And I hear from reporta here the tar in Portaland is decent. When I was still using in 07' the stuff I was getting on the streets were better than anything I could find pharmacetically. This was on top of the 40 mg of methadone (which I tapered to from 135 mg at the height.
Opiates- such a seductive drug but such a horrible, natmarish life. I stked today that I don't have to worry about getting my meorning issue (got my ass into recovery.)
But it sounds like this guy had a tragic relapse if I'm not mistaken. Now he might end up dying in jail.
I wonder if drugs were legal if he'd still rob the pharmacy for the rush. I'm perplexed what motivated him at his age.
