Drugs that mimic schizophrenia

Think the cloest I came was on the diphen. Was led in my bed, hearing voices in a true state of delirium. I'd think i'd got up and gone to the bathroom, but then open my eyes and be in bed, i'd get up and go to the bathroom again and then open my eyes in bed again and I got stuck in this loop, I could hear laughing voices all the time. Was a seriously fucked up experience, but strangely fun at the same time ha!

The visual distortions are not what charactize severe schizophrenia, as far as I know. The shift in perception to a state of belief in things which are not true or are not present is what is truly terrifying and disorienting. Oral and visual hallucinations in the sense of hearing and seeing stimuli that are not physically present, or stimuli that is being severely or partially altered by the patients brain is simply a symptom of, not the definition of, schizophrenia.

'The horrors' described during severe opioid withdrawal by William Burroughs, the perception changes in color, distance, all sensory stimuli via Mescaline by Albert Huxley, on top of the severe emotional, mood and other mental and physical manifestations of various symptoms that can occur in a schizophrenic can most likely never be replicated the way, say, Parkinsons can be replicated with MPTP.

I remember seeing something on the television or internet that was supposed to be a simulation of what a person having hallucinations/psychoses from a neurological disorder. What i remember of that was exactly what i felt when i was on a high dose of dxm, the first high dose i can remember ever taking. There was a point where i had forgotten i had taken anything (which is more common with datura or brugmansia, or other anti-cholinergics than with dissociatives in my opinion) and i had convinced myself that this was what it was going to be like going through my life.

fortunately it ended considerably easier than any of the datura psychoses i dealt with. One time i had kids with elephantitis who i was supposed to be babysitting asleep on my bed for 4 days after the initial effects wore off. Eventually they left, but for that whole time i felt like i had to tip-toe around my room so i wouldn't wake them. Who knew?

long time ago I used coke 7 days in a raw no sleep,on 7th. day I started to hear people outside my house talking,I had hallucinations,I could see and hear shit that was not real after that I don't do more then couple lines of coke anymore. The funny thing is on LSD you know you have a trip, here you think it's reality.

oh 8)

DXM! That's right. Dissociatives definitely can provoke psychotic responses rather close to real psychosis, in fact I've had ketamine cause a number of psychotic symptoms, including apophenias and auditory hallucinations like voices.

Yeah what? I had a pretty fucking psychotic mushie trip. Wasnt many hallucinations but i felt pretty fucking psychotic thats for sure.

To all dxm advocates.. i would hardly say dxm is psychotic-ish to say the least. Its pretty soft and the hallucinations are weak.

^^ omg no dought mushrooms make ur psycotic NO DOUGht

ive gnone nuts on them (bad trips)

my friends have

people have

people i dnot even know that im not sure about but i can garentee they have lol

mushrooms are MORE psycotic than acid IMPO ...P=peoples

Experiments have been carried out where high doses of cannabinoids such as delta-9-THC was administered to healthy volunteers intravenously and it reliably induced symptoms of schizophrenia in pretty much all of the volunteers (hallucinations, delusions and severe paranoia).

Yeah, cannabinoids definitely have a tendency to induce psychotic symptoms. I've seen them precipitate amphetamine psychoses in a lot of people.

The OP was asking which drug would mimic schizophrenia the most. There is no doubt that the psychedelics can produce some of the symptoms that mimic true psychosis, I am certainly not denying that, but at the same time, neurochemically and psychiatrically speaking, real genuine schizophrenia is a lot different than what happens as a result of psychedelics, alrhough psychedelics can provoke psychotic episodes in people predisposed to them. There are other drugs that cause a response more typical of true schizophrenia. Knowing a few things about behavior and the way the brain works, one has to make the distinction between psychedelic experiences and true psychoses, as the two states are very different, despite some overlapping qualities.

i'd say ambien. it's not a typical hallucinagen but fuck, at high doses i dont know whats real and what isn't. i'm talking to people that arent there, hearing things, seeing strange shit, and so on. its particularly the voices i hear andn talk to that make me think ambien mimics schizo.

Weed has made me pretty paranoid and delusional thinking that I had lost my ability to think and cope with simple everyday life situations. It also made me feel... the best way I can describe it is... not myself... like being high turned me into a different person or brought out thinking and aspects of my personality that felt very foreign and scary to me. If it wasn't paranoid schizophrenia, then I can't imagine how much worse it could be.

I had a schizophrenic as a roommate once. I was so scared of that guy, I slept with a knife to defend myself in case he broke in to kill me. None of his delusions or hallucinations seem like they would be any fun at all.

i've had schizophrenic effects from 5+ day benders of methamphetamine and mdma/mda pills. dxm has cause the same with a dose of 1200mg, though it was actually fun to play with. a bad acid trip was complete hell and has been the worst experience of my life. i guess salvia did the same to me everytime as well, complete fucking hell where i wanted out. i look like im possessed in the video footage of that.

ketamine is THE worst, i feel like my head is turning inside out and i cant filter noise or any stimulation, literally i could hear each insect in the forest and the sheer amount of them was driving me nuts. it makes me feel dead, nauseous and really schizo-styley.

horrid drug

DMT, 5-MeO-DMT, LSD, etc...

The myth that 5ht2a agonist psychedelics are psychotomimetic is born of ignorant assumptions of early researchers in the sixties and earlier.
...
I'll have to say that stimulant induced psychosis runs closest (some synergy of dopaminergic overdrive and sleep deprivation).

ebola

Keep in mind there are different levels of Schizophrenia. I know a schizo but he does not really have much delusions. It is more like a loss of a social consience and not knowing the difference with how people communicate so he gets really confused at times.
