couple questions..

1. could you get in trouble for sniffing drugs that are prescribed to you? like if you did it in public and a police saw you.

2. could i legally carry around crushed up pills in a powder form that are legally prescribed to me? i thought all prescribed drugs had to remain in the prescription bottle, someone told me that. what about if the pills were crushed up in there?

i did do a search on here, and google. and can't find any answers. i don't even plan on doing this. its just one of those things you think of and are kind of curious.

Very good question. I would imagine you COULD theoretically find yourself in trouble for either. Definitely snorting anything in public would be suspect and could lead to some type of charge. As for carrying around crushed up pills...yes. If the item isn't easily identifiable, you would be going thru a LOT of red tape trying to prove that the med is what it is, and even if you didn't get in trouble, per se, it is probably a great way to lose your meds, as the police would prob be quicker just to seize them than bother going thru any type of identification process.

My advice? Don't do either if you want to remain "safe".

i know its all stupid to do, like i said i don't plan on doing this. and if i was i wouldnt do it in public lol. i just mean LEGALLY can they do anything? they are my meds should i be able to carry them around crushed? i know they could potentially be taken cuz the police would prolly think its some street drug, but once they tested it i don't think i'd be in trouble.

again this is just one of those things you're curious about, i have no intentions on sniffing a line of some drug at a restaurant on the table or anything lol

You'd get into trouble for both. If a police officer saw you snort drugs with chopped up powder in your possession they will arrest you BEFORE doing a test on the powder. They won't take your word that its your prescription drug if its in powder ford. I'm sure that they've heard that one before. "But officer its my prescription drug"

i agree. maybe you'll get arrrested. but will you get any charges?

i'm from glendale AZ btw. where in AZ are you?

You'd be looking at the lab fees after they test the powder. More than likely you'd get charged, once you destroy a pill it's hard to prove that it came from your now empty script bottle.

Legally, I think you would be fine, as you're prescribed the drugs by a doctor. However, if your doctor found out you were crushing up the drugs and sniffing them, they may stop prescribing them to you, as you could be seen as misusing/abusing them.

^This. Plus you'll have to bond out unless you want to sit in jail waiting on them to test it, which could take months. But, yes they would probably drop charges inventually. Seems easier just to wait to crush them. Also if you crush a bunch it will make it hard to dose accurately.

As I understand it, it is technically illegal to use prescribed drugs in a manner other than how your doctor has instructed, which would make insufflation illegal.

"May" stop prescribing you the drug. They would for sure, as you'd be diagnosed with substance abuse disorder and no controlled substance drugs would be prescribed to you anymore. A couple of the many psychiatrists that I jumped through had me diagnosed because I admitted it (dumb idea) and Strattera replaced my amphetamines, I was taken off my sleeping meds and my benzodiazepines were tapered. I left after having to taper my benzos. Doctors really look at you differently once your diagnosed substance abuse disorder, like your an alien. Point is, they would definitely stop the medicine if they found out you went to jail for abusing it.

1) I'm not sure whether or not it's flat out illegal to snort pills that you're prescribed; I don't think it is, although, as other people said, if your doctor found out you were doing that there would be a pretty decent chance they'd either lower your dose or stop prescribing that med to you at all.
However, if a cop catches you snorting something in public, you're going to get in trouble. You could say it's just a crushed up pill prescribed to you all you want, but it's not like anybody's going to bother testing the powder, & if you'd already snorted it they wouldn't have anything to test anyways. I'm sure they'd be able to find some minor offense to charge you with. I mean, if there's laws against being drunk in public & drinking in public, I'm sure there's laws that cover doing drugs in public.

2) Considering that drug stores will sell pill crushers to anybody, & that owning pill crushers is perfectly legal, I know that at least crushing up pills is without question perfectly a-okay. I'd think that, if for whatever reason you got caught with powder that was crushed up pills, a pill crusher, & a prescription bottle, most cops probably wouldn't bother trying to do shit about it. I can't possibly imagine what they could try & charge you with - unless they're flat out corrupt & feel like making shit up, which obviously isn't all that uncommon. I think they'd have to end up getting the powder tested before charging you with anything, & that would cost the government too much & be too much of a hassle I'd think.
That said, you could just carry around a pill crusher & crush up pills right before you take them. That would definitely be a much more sensible thing to do.
Also, I'm 99.9% sure that prescribed drugs don't legally have to remain in the prescription bottle. I've been prescribed pills for the past decade, & no doctor has ever told me that. Nor have I ever seen any sort of warning on a prescription bottle informing you of such. Plus for years I've carried around all my pills in those little pill cassettes where you sort them out for each day of the week. If you had to keep pills in the prescription bottle I doubt those would even exist.

Yes prescription medicine always must be carried in the bottle it came in,its the law,,you cannot but two different pill types in one bottle with a prescpition even unless you hav ethe bottle for your other medicine with you...and if you are caught sniffing meds by a cop in public you can be arrested for one thing being unde rthe influence in public if they wanna be asses which they will be and carrying a pill crusher is not agood idea either, those are for people who have trouble swallowing pills whole and the pill crusher is to crush the pill so it can be put into a applesauce or soft food like that and consumed immediately after applying it...I know from personal experience,,been arrested for public intox - drugs for prescription meds cause some narc called the come sin my neighborhood when i was walking to a buddys house and I was not obviuosly intoxicated to see me walking by...bastrds,,,also i had three types of meds i was prescribed with me in one bottle , so i was charged with the possseion of a controled substance for oxycontin and methadone and not for the somas since it was a soma bottle, but the charges of possession were dropped only after the cops called my doctor after they took the pills to apharmacist for identification to see if I was prescribed those meds and I also had to give my lawyer the pill bottles for the methadone and the oxycontin...long story short my doctor cut me off after the cops informed him i was arrested for public intoxication drugs--the pills i was on and then asked him if he prescribed them and next time I went to the doctor he drug tests me and cuts me off...i failed the drug test because i had benzos in my system which i hav ea script for from a shrink, but he did not give afuck..the cops fucked me and that was an excuse and me being arrested high on pills he prescribed made him say he cannot be my doctor anymore...fucker and fuck those cops and fuck the punk who called the cops on me......So in other words unless you wanna tempt getting cut off totally no second chances don't do anything you been talking about and always keep your medicine in it's bottle...always or risk a lotta hassle at the very least..

once you have the meds, it's your choice on how you wish to administer them.

if you prefer to crush them up and rail them, then i don't see what issue anybody could raise with you.

i mean you could prefer to rail paracetamol for all they know.

however you get the drugs into your body is entirely your choice
