That's alright... a friend of mine only listens to death metal, while tripping and while sober. He doesn't even own any other kind of music. I don't get it at all... it all sounds completely toneless, like a constant wall of noise created by a rapid bass drum and mashing of guitar notes coupled with a wordless computer-augmented roar. I'd rather listen to shit plopping into a toilet because at least that contains subtleties and natural harmonics.

You would be surprised what some Death Metal bands can do! I'm not talking about the typical Cannibal Corpse, with guitars dropped down to A playing tremolo notes, I mean Melodic Death Metal bands...but while tripping? I guess it depends on what drug.

I dunno, I guess I could see why punk is to acid. Most of the 70s-80s punk bands were tripping on a lot more acid than psychedelic bands... For example early Black Flag, Flipper, The Dicks, Crucifucks, The Vandals (they even have a song about going to Disneyland's Pirates of the Carribean ride on acid)

But as in music to listen to while under the influence, I guess 70s psychedelic would go better for acid.

Cocaine / methamphetamine - classic rock, rock
LSD/ mushrooms / mescaline etc. etc. - Anything Happy, Especially oldies rock and Sublime for me.
Opiates - Anything soft and soothing.
