drug references in music...some are kinda stupid

anything in rap made past 2005. the word 'kush' has been destroyed. i mean like i dont even wanna smoke it anymore because of rap music. fucking gucci. motherfucking lil wayne. bitch ass muhfucker drake, kanye, etc.

I find it funny how all those rappers talk about purple drank. You'd think with all the money and conections they have they'd be into way better opietes than fucking codien. lol

Bringing back the 90's boy!!

"Damn what's goin' on in my maggot dome
A pill poppin', hip hoppin'
nigga with a death wish
Suicidalist but I'm still so selfish"

Natas - No Fault Insurance.

I bet not one of you mo'fo''s remember this song! lol

yah^^ the seroquel referenc e is nonsense...

but the stranglers "Golden Brown"... "never a frown, with golden brown"... very true

(move to DC)

I actually disagree there, a small amount of Seroquel is a nice potentiator if you want some nods. But definitely a small amount, say 20mg or even less.

"Shoulda Know" by atmosphere is a great tune about the dark side of amphetamines or heroin. He's my favorite rapper personally. He doesn't go on with all the stupid lyrics boasting about bling, bitches, etc. and really deals with the deeper levels of various people.

As far as stupid lyrics, Pretty much like half of rap. I swear they just say shit that sound cool and rhymes sometimes.

Rick Ross, Jeezy, Project Pat, Master P, Eazy E, and plenty more are almost all pure coke rappers. I like many of their songs but some shit they pull out is ridiculous. 8)

And yeah, their ignorance is often hilarious, I don't understand how they think promethazine actually intoxicates you, or that codeine is in any way 'hardcore' in potency. :D

Not music, but it really bugs me how many vicodin House does. Even ignoring all the apap, it's far too weak for him anyway, especially since he's a long term user.

Are you serious about the APAP thing? Dude he takes two at a time and although he does keep up constant use two at a time isn't enough to warrant CWEs unless you're taking 15 or 20 a day, which it doesn't seem like he was.

I'm surprised this hasn't be posted before: mc chris - the tussin

Lyrics:
NSFW:
Way back, college boy asked to a high school dance.
Couldn't wait, but my date was in my friend's pants.
Didn't know what to do, MC feelin' blue,
'Til my best friend said that the red would get me through.
Went to the jewel with my crew, adults-only box,
In a second-hand suit, bow tie, I'm a fox.
In a car on the street. In my mouth, Swisher Sweet.
Down that shit at my crib in a one gulp feat.
Room starts to turn like cheese...
My tummy starts to churn like grease...
On my knees like a rug burn beast...
Like an intern tease with a yeast (infection)
All the while on the tile, feel like I got the flu.
Think I'm gonna throw, I think this night is through.
Ding-dong, date's arrived and her dress is ripped.
She don't know I'm on a Robotussin trip.
In the back two girls going stag, fat asses.
I demand from the date her sunglasses.
do a drop roll out the car like Axel.
I need an angel, I need some fuckin' Advil.
I got a buzz bigger than a behive...
Cough up my cookies let loose what's on the inside.

Chorus:
The Tussin, The Tussin
Put it down like it was nothing.
Robocop couldn't stop me puking and flushin'.
No balls to be bustin', no fightin', no cussin',
Just love for a drug called Robotussin.

Way back college boy, live on eleventh floor.
Head out my window, wonder what I'm living for.
Knock on my door. What's in store? It's my buddy, Bux
With the rabbit ear pockets, saying he is out of luck.
Need a forty for party thrown by Laura Kang, at Rubin.
All he's got is snot, and a box-full of Ludens.
Tell'm 'bout the Tussin, we're hayden ho hustlin'
Interupting discussions about reagonomic reprocussions.
Fuck'm, we're fuckin' chug-a-luggin'.
Soon my stomach, I'm huggin'. I'm trippin' or something.
My coat I button, keep it down like a dungeon.
You could call me the cough medicine curmudgeon.
Frankly, the feeling's fuckin' fantastic.
I'm tripping like Jesus in the desert when he fasted,
Like it's the night before we all get drafted,
Like we're rowing through some rapids with Kevin Bacon, white water rafting.
Like you're at Epcot Center on acid? Exactly.

Chorus

Cuddy said his dose on an episode.... Something like "you used to be on 58 mgs now your on 82" Those might not be the exact numbers, but I remember it was a dose around the 80's, but for some reason wasn't even divisible by 10, or 7.5. So since it didn't go by 10's then it wasn't norco, and most likely had more than 325mgs of apap per pill. With the max recommended daily dose at 4000, I don't think any reasonable doctor would even be on 3000 a day for himself, especially with the growing number of liver problems seen these days.

I know I looked way to far into it, but it's their own fault for having a medical show and not even having the facts right.

This one takes the cake.
Also from the Lil Wyte song "Oxy Cotton"

I prefer the orange ones with the black OC's, take two and you cannot move up out your seat

Since when was there a fucking orange OxyContin pill with a black OC marking? Dumb guyyy

To move this away from the hip-hop theme a little bit, there is a Primus song that is clearly about acid that I like the lyrics to (lol, which one, right?).

Duchess and the Proverbial Mind Spread:

"Burnin', I feel a burnin' in my stomach,
I wanna know if I'm a gonna make it.
If I don't just spread my ashes,
if I do just spread your mind.

Swimmin', I see myself a treadin' water
I see no signs of any other people.
There's a heron up above me
I lay back and spread my mind.

Duchess, she used to be a movie maker.
She used to like to watch the boys watch her.
And she saved enough money
to go to Cal and spread her mind.

Billy, used to follow the Dead with Arnie
and they made a hundred thousand dollars.
But ended up in federal prison
twenty years for spreading minds."

Guns N' Roses- Mr Brownstone is all about heroin

The album 13th Step by A Perfect Circle is all about drug addiction. It's a fucking amazing cd, one of my favorites and it really captures the different aspects of addiction.

Not by Clapton, written by J J Cale.

How's about 'There she goes' The LA's - smack init :)

Thank you! It's crazy how many people don't know it's NOT a Clapton original... roots, people, roots!

Speaking of roots... a good one about H is Savoy Brown's "Needle and Spoon."

Don’t need no women don’t need no wine
‘Cause life is sweet when you hit the main line
I sleep with the sun and I rise with the moon
And I feel alright with my needle and spoon
I feel alright with my needle and spoon

Only one thing that worries my mind
The stuff it kills you and it treats you unkind
If you’re married you can divorce your wife
But when you’re married to “H” then you’re married for life
You’re married to “H” and you’re married for life

Alice in Chains and Sublime songs are probably almost too obvious...

I also always thought M.I.A's "Paper Planes" had to be about drug dealing. "We pack and deliver like UPS trucks" and the bit about prepaid phones...

Lots of silly rap lyrics listed so far... how about some classics:

'Heroin' by The Velvet Underground:

"I don't know just where I'm going
But I'm gonna try for the kingdom, if I can
'Cause it makes me feel like I'm a man
When I put a spike into my vein
And I'll tell ya, things aren't quite the same
When I'm rushing on my run
And I feel just like Jesus' son
And I guess that I just don't know
And I guess that I just don't know"

That's just the first verse, but the whole song continues in that fashion. Great album to spin while nodding, or on pretty much any downers.

'The Pusher' by Steppenwolf

"You know I smoked a lot of grass.
Oh Lord! I popped a lot of pills.
But I've never touched nothin'
That my spirit couldn't kill.
You know I've seen a lot of people walking 'round
With tombstones in their eyes.
But the pusher don't care
If you live -- or if you die.
God Damn! The pusher."

'Dead Flowers' by the Rolling Stones

"Well, you're sitting back
In your pink Cadillac
Making bets on Kentucky Derby Day
I'll be in my basement room
With a needle and a spoon
And another girl can take my pain away"

Not any of that "I TOOK PILLS, F&*%ED BITCHES, SMOKE ROCKS" rap lyricism. These are songs that actually have emotional content to back up the drug experience they describe.
