What can I say, I have a low threshold for pretentious bullshit? Please stop trying to pin threads going OT on me, when they go wildly off topic whether or not i'm involved in them. And when I am involved, for the majority of the time it is other people taking exception to one line I said and taking it in that direction. You following him around with your pom poms when what he was saying wasn't that clever is hardly becoming... Plus this little stream of OT was nothing to do with that statement and more to do with Will Self. Charlie can't even differentiate between two people with totally different user names, when one has an avatar of a cat and the other has nothing.

Of course I am at the center of it, there is a general group of pricks following me round incessently. That's what i'm saying. A lot of the time I can be repeating exactly what others before me have said and you'll jump in on me... there aren't even any maidens about knock, just drop it if you really care so much about threads being on topic. And y'know, don't expect me not to reply when someone directs a post at me that demands a response. It's just common sense.

C'mon. Back on topic, jspun has pretty much covered the comparative physical dangers of drink and opiates. But both alcohol and heroin also cause what may be termed 'spiritual' damage. But can either also help with the spiritual malaise - whatever it may be and whether consciously perceived or not - which, I believe, is often the reason why users turn to their substance of choice in the first place? That's the interesting question here.

Hey CC- You bring up a good point which brings up the chicken or the egg analogy. The spiritual dimension of using heroin, EtOH, or any other drug for that matter is an interesting question. I think that using and/ or abusing either substance is often of self medication. Abuse of either eventually leads to wreakge using my defenition of spirituality which is how we treat our self or others.

Charlie is widely respected. His posts our very informative, thought provoking, and well informed. I've learned alot from him. His deportment is one of a true gentleman.
I consider Charlie to be one of my very best friends on BL. He is very well read... I wish I knew alittle about the authors in question. I've posted several times on this forum and I have benn treated politely and graciously by most people in EADD but none more than Charle. I am a yank so I feel that as a guest I should avoid conflict- as a visitor I need to show respect so I'll try to be gentle Blunts.

Its been mentioned that you are a Christian I don't know how much of the bibble you read. But Jesus warned, "Those who live by the sword, die by the sword." I don't thing derailing threads and flamming everyone because they don't share your values or proclivities is noy very spiritual or consistant with Blibical teachuigs. Another good verse is Judge and you will be judged...it goes on to say "turn the other cheek" I suggest you spend more time actually reading the bible.

Gandhi once said that if Christians acted like christ there would be alot more Chrisitians.

I was thinking of the prospect of you Charlie having groupies on this website made me have a vision you getting mobbed by hundreds of hot girls that posted in BL's the nudie thread as you get out of a Rolls Royce.=D=D =D

I should be so lucky, jspun. Although I did have a not-unattractive crackwhore knock on my doors the other morning to let me know she'd do 'anything' if I could come up with the price of another rock. "Nice of you to offer," I squawked, " but I'm old school." " Wot?" she asked, rictus grin slipping in suspicion. "Broke." I said and she cheerfully accepted a cigarette to go away. A great relief, a chap at my time of life should be spared such callers. Feel a bit bad about savaging MSB - a screwed-up wisdom tooth extraction was giving me all sorts of grief and he offered an easy target for my ill-humour - and hope he didn't take it too seriously, sure he knows it doesn't mean beans. Funny how the thread died when the vitriol stopped - the way of the world, maybe, or else nobody has anything further to say on topic. Still, good to hear from you, jspun, ever onward or, at least, sideways into the glistening future.
