First off, I want to say that I don't drive while intoxicated on anything, nor should anyone else. Driving while under the influence is one of the few ways to turn YOUR drug use into something that's dangerous for other people, which is entirely unacceptable. That being said, I did it many, many times, years ago. I was stupid and selfish, and one day I realized that there was no excuse for that behavior and I haven't driven under the influence even once ever since. Now, to the actual topic:
Do any of you find that you're able to drive entirely fine on any substance? (not including doses high enough to make you pass out). Obviously there are many drugs that inhibit judgment and reaction time, this question applies to driving in normal circumstances (i.e. not being brake checked or a kid jumping in the road), but just driving around without any obstacles that would normally arise while driving. I've driven on benzos, psychadelics, opiates, weed, alcohol, stimulants, empathogens, disassociatives, you name it. Never once did ANY of them make me drive any worse than I would sober (this was backed up countless times by astonished passengers, both sober and high). No matter how messed up I was, I would just think about 3 things: my speed, keeping the wheel straight, and stopping when I was supposed to. I once drove on 30mg of oxy, 60mg of morphine, 12mg of valium, 4mg of klonopin, 2 grams of shrooms, and a lot of weed with 0 problems. This was probably the stupidest thing I've ever done, and I've done a lot of very stupid things. Like I said earlier, I made the decision not to do this ever again years ago, despite not having any problems. Absolutely not worth the risk. So, has anyone else found this to be the case?
