The country with the world's most prisoners.
So I've heard lots of people on this forum say they aren't big fans of alcohol. I'm in the same boat if I'm comparing alcohol to opiates or other drugs. But lets face it a half gallon of whiskey is a very affordable way to get a buzz. For me I have to obey certain rules to enjoy my booze or it defeats the point.

1. I must not forget that my body needs just as much food as normal.
2. I have to keep with the familiar. Old songs I've heard a hundred times. The same bar. You get the idea.
3. I have to have people to talk to or I will get lonely and depressed.
4. I must drink a glass of water if I wake up in the middle of the night to avoid a hangover.
5. Also I must drink a little water every now and then to keep from getting shit faced.

So what are your rules?

1) Eat SOMETHING before I start, doesn't have to be a full meal, but something. Drink a couple bottles of water too.

2) Make sure I'm stocked for the night, well before they stop selling at 2am. Those 1:30am beer runs -
Like I had to do last night - fucking suck.

Other than that, floor open.

1) ditch eating - will get me drunk faster and costs less.
2) just drink 1-2 pints and then move on to liquor to avoid the restroom running
3) cause drama, hit on taken girls to create ruckus -> adrenaline keeps me awake
4) notably point at males dancing and then comment on their moves
5. when ordering, ask for pack of stogs and after theyve ripped it open tell em you want smoke another brand or just dont buy it

thats about it.. couldnt think of more

I don't drink too often anymore, it just ends up being miserable too often, and I hate driving drunk but I live in an area without public transit (I know, I can stay at home, stay the night with someone else, or make sure I have a DD, but I never bother to do these things).

I only have 3 rules:
1. Don't drink alone. I always drink too much and get sick and miserable when I drink alone, without exception.
2. When I feel good, I stop drinking. My first instinct is to drink more when I start to feel good because then I'll feel better or I'll stay drunk longer, but I always feel worse if I keep drinking, and when I stop once I feel good, I still stay drunk and happen for two or three hours.
3. Don't mention anything politically sensitive to other people. I will make an ass of myself, and I will offend someone. Keep the conversation light.

I have 2 different instances of drinking:
1) Chillin at home, playing games, watching tv, reading a book, etc. which will just include a few beers or glasses of wine.
2) Going out with friend to party/go to a bar which will be pure liquor, nothing more, nothing less.

As you can figure out, instance 1 doesnt really require rules if youre able to enjoy light, casual drinking.
I do however have my own rules for instance 2:

-Nice meal. Something to get me full, but not too full, and then wait at least an hour before drinking.
-If Im making my own drinks, decrease the amount of alcohol per drink just a bit with each drink. Especially if theres plans to go to a bar lately.
-Buying all liquor before 9pm, which is a given (alcohol sale times here are 9am-9pm).
-Make sure I know where Im staying that night and who Ill be with, along with knowing all (or most) of the nights plans so I dont make impulsive decisions that could conflict with those plans.

The only rules I have for drinking is try to fucking pace myself... I have a pretty gnarly tolerance to alcohol and If I don't monitor myself I can easily end up consuming a pint of bourbon in a couple hours.

glass of water or two before bed

wake up fine

thats bout it for me

oh yea n if ive had more then a couple im crashin where ever i was drinkin, be it the couch, the floor, the car, i dont care. i never sweated drinkin n drivin til i got on probation, shit makes me paranoid of everthing i do now just about

Make sure I have food in my stomach

Drink enough water

Don't get drunk ever, only the level before it, stay in control (Which is easy to do for some reason, why can't I have that control with opiates?)

Don't take more than a few hits of weed or else I'll get the spins

Don't mix anything with alcohol in excessive amounts

Don't hand out/smoke all my cigarettes

My rule: bring an upper.. 8(

(Except when I'm drinking for taste rather than effects, like with wine.)

glass of water or two before bed
Yeah, thats always a good one.

If Im in my cousins town at the bar drinking with him and all of our friends, we always grab a bite to eat after. It really puts the stomach at ease, for me at least because Im prone to stomach aches after drinking. Im not a heavy drinker and Ive had blood tests done to check my liver enzymes, so dont tell me its my liver :p

I always need to drink water or the hangover is worse in the morning. Also don't eat too heavy but eat before the alcohol.... give yourself some time. Start slow and don't go too hard in a short period of time... I really don't have many suggestions but make sure you have someone with you who will drink less than you. Shit, I would of choked to death one night on my own vomit if my friend wasn't there. Also never drink and use benzos!!!! We all know what that leads to.

About to get drunk right now =D lol I'm sad.

my only rule is not to drink in the first place cause after i do things go to complete shit anyway. I always end up mixing opiates and benzos while drunk and taking far too many risks. The amount of scars i have from drinking is ridiculous and i was just a university binge drinker for a few years.

when i was drinking, my rules were no food before hand, as you will get fucked faster and better, greasy ass food before going home and try to drink some water before bed. I'd also not drink if i couldn't smoke pot, i'd just end up wanting to smoke so bad that getting drunk compared to drunk + stoned was not worth it to me. Oh yeah and cigarettes became a necessity and later stimulants. I also greatly preferred the strongest most potent alcohol possible. Moonshine being great, 151 at other times, almost never drink beer alone, always either mixed or completely hard liquor. I find it strange that in some places people just mostly drink beer, to get really fucked you need to slam back like 6 shots to get you started, you cant' drink the equivalent of that in beer that quickly or easily and hard liquor has a better cost/drunkeness ratio. My first time getting completely shitfaced involved a pint of rum going down my throat in one go lol.

Ugh, I hate alcohol. I used to drink a LOT, after multiple occasions waking up not remembering the night before or only remembering being sick everywhere I decided alcohol really is a shit drug.

It's surprisingly bad for you, the pleasure vs pain ratio is pretty harsh, and I have a habit of drinking too much and regretting it.

And to think it's the most socially accepted drug apart from caffeine. I have a love hate relationship with weed too but weed doesn't make me throw up everywhere.

hey JessFR what is your poison of choice?

I always need to drink water or the hangover is worse in the morning.
good tip imo. i always try to down a litre of water before i pass out, if im lucent enough to remember. definitely helps rehydrate and keep hang overs at bay.

the only rule is there are NO rules. bottoms up

1st RULE: You do not talk about FIGHT CLUB.
2nd RULE: You DO NOT talk about FIGHT CLUB.
3rd RULE: If someone says "stop" or goes limp, taps out the fight is over.
4th RULE: Only two guys to a fight.
5th RULE: One fight at a time.
6th RULE: No shirts, no shoes.
7th RULE: Fights will go on as long as they have to.
8th RULE: If this is your first night at FIGHT CLUB, you HAVE to fight.

After 30 plus years of continuous drinking I've determined there are no rules. You either have the drinking gene or you don't. Rules only lead to disappointment in oneself. If you're a true drinker you do whatever comes next.

Opiates mainly. Though plenty of other drugs/categories I like to various degrees.
o yeh, which opis? are you prescribes or you just enjoy for kicks?
