drinking listerine?

I remember when I was really young like 13 or so we would steal these things from safeway called "angostura bitters" like 80% but they taste like shit. But yah alcohol is really easy to get just ask anyone outside of a liquor store, i was able to get old church going women to buy me rye, vodka, everclear etc. and thats when i was like 14 or so! Hobos are the sure fire way, just ask em to buy like a flat of beer or whatever and tell em you'll give them some.

Yes, doing a favor for a bum once in a while is another sure way to get alcohol around the clock. My brother stole a mountain bike for this bum, and he can go up to him at 4 o'clcok in the morning and wake his ass up and the bum doesn't really care. He'll go in buy my brother some 40's and then keep one for himself and go back to sleep.

^lols

yea i'm pretty suprised myself that people go this extent for alcohol....
really, there is NO one over 21 that you can ask? since i was in 8th grade, i've always known atleast 2 people who'd buy alcohol for me...hell we'd ride with them and go into the liqour store, pick out shit, hand it to him, and pay in the parking lot! they never kept change or anything, occasionally i'd buy em a forty or something, but mostly we'd just smoke a few bowls with them when they got back!

honestly, i think this is why alcohol has never been desireable for me, because its always so easy to get....unlike my beloved opiates, and TRUE dank!

One time I caught my dad drinking listerine, and after laughing until I almost pissed my pants I called the poison control center (Just to make a big deal out of it, and to be safe). They said that it won't kill you, unless you drink a LOT of it.

I'd have to agree with xxanxx though. Wait until the next time a bum asks you for money and say,
"Want to make some money, do ya?"
*zzzziiippp*
"Let's see what you can do... And watch the biting, snaggletooth."

I mean, what?! No no, ask him to buy booze for you.

YES++++

irrespective of the immediate remifications it aint great to be an alcho`. im pushing old enough and i can pin point my alcoholism begining when i drank metho few years back. couldnt much down (luckily) but if it was listerine (...and available) i could a got myself into some serious shit.

even the best 40 year old scotch is highly toxic, you dont need all the unknowns in listerine to fuck your brain and liver that one bit more.

if you be doin the drinkin thang anyway my best advice is to chase whatever you drink with V8 juice, water, bannana in the morning and when finished listen to your body it`ll tell you what to do...

How much is " a lot"?

I was kind of curious myself, but didn't ask. It would have looked too much like I was doing due-diligence rather than asking about somebody who already drank it.

I don't know about it being deadly, although I'm sure it can be in large enough amounts. The main thing is the SEVERE gastrointestinal effects than even a small amount will give you. I am talking some nasty stuff to go through - painful gas, horrible stomach cramping, the squirts, etc... Seriously, your better off doing shots of mint extract(not recommended though..) than that shit. Perhaps you should consider the fact that you might be a raging alcoholic?

Well I called poison control myself and the gentleman I spoke with did not seem concerned and when I asked if there was a limit (i.e. LD-50) he compared it to regular ethanol, which really wasn't the answer I was looking for as I seriously doubt this stuff is safe to be drinking in the same manner.

Any of the listerines containing fluoride (normally sodium fluoride) are dangerous as fluoride ions will inhibit oxidative phosphorylation in red blood cells (in red blood cells, it acts the same way as cyanide ions do in all the other cells of the body)

Unrelated and obviously not an issue but interestingly, my city adds fluoride to the public drinking water.

Fluorine and water systems...

Almost all municipal water systems in the US add fluorine to the water for dental decay prophylaxis. It binds even tighter to teeth than calcium ions in solution and helps prevent further decay of teeth. It is present in minute amounts not anywhere close enough to cause the cyanosis type effect fastandbulbous wrote about in his post above.

That is the fluorine story, it is a major reason why people my age (30s) have so many fewer cavities and less decay in general than my parents generation. Coincidently, I am going to have several chipped and cracked teeth repaired later this afternoon. I am hesitant to blame my heroin and methadone use on the chipping (no pun intended) but many other people do blame methadone for their teeth falling apart. That is a completely different series of opinions and journal articles that I do not want to get into here, we have already been through that issue. I just thought it was a funny coincidence since the topic came up here today and I'm having work done this very afternoon....

Sorry to be off topic. I guess I should add something about drinking household health care or baking products to stay on topic here, but I seriously don't have anything positive to write about the practice so I will not write anything at all, OK?

Is the thymol dangerous? Everything else in there seems to be non-toxic, but thymol says things like seizures, convulsions, respiratory failure

Well some of the street people drink it here in Toronto. They are still staggering around so it likely won't kill you-at least right away.

Is it really that bad to have 3-6 oz. once a week when you run out of stuff?

I mean, I read a report of a guy ODing on listerine, but he drank either 2L, or 2x 1.5L bottles, so...

What are the chances of getting arrested sitting outside the liquor store begging guys to buy you stuff, rather than just having a guy from the store come out and shoo you away?
