This doesn't make any sense! Just a month ago your pain was so severe that you had to take more medicine then you were prescribed, and now you are going to tell your doctor that you can make do with less?!?!? I am wondering myself what is going on inside your head, and I am sure that is the same thing the doctor will wonder.
I am not trying to be a dick but basically this whole thread is full of indications that you have a problem with oxycodone. While you might have a condition that warrants the prescribing of potent narcotics, pain doctors in the have to be very careful who they prescribe to, or they will lose their license and ability to earn money. I honestly feel sorry for you that you have a painful condition, but I also understand why your doctor is as skeptical about your usage as he is. I think that you really ought to re-evaluate your usage of oxycodone and be honest with yourself in terms of acknowledging that you do have a problem with this drug because this is how it seems.
Can you not +1 when you have nothing better to say?
i am sorry but you please clarify what the " +1 " refers to? Thank you.
i am only asking for advice on how to better communicate to them, all I have been doing is speaking to everyone from the heart, with utmost honesty and what i have lived.
As for you comment:
"What I can say though if you have pain and use your medication as prescribed you should be fine"
In my personal situation, as you see in my initial posts, being someone with uncommon (1 in 3million+) congenital disability - this does not include my scoliosis which as you obviously know is about in Canada = About 3 out of every 100 people have some form. Mine is on the more severe and not pretty type if you know what I mean. If you see my avatar or image in my profile you can see it slightly, can you see it a bit?
Thanks for your help and I really like the excellent feedback bluelight.ru has given me. bluelight.ru has truly made my life better.
Your pain is persistent. If your pain lasts 10 years your doctor cannot give you the same narcotic for 10 years or else, in the end you will slit your wrists if you are told to stop.
Doctors need to change the medicine every once in a while in order to avoid addiction. Suboxone will relieve your pain just fine...the only problem is that you find it hard to renounce to oxy because you are addicted. If you tell your doctor:
''Can I please stick with oxy'' = '' I am addicted to oxy, please give me my fix''
A smart thing would be to tell your doctor that he made you take oxy FOR TOO LONG, because you developed an addiction. In that case, your doctor will vary your medicine more often, in order to avoid such addiction in the future.
I agree with Ksa, its just he's saying it in more of a "life is tough, your addicted, get over it" kind of way....while im trying to sugar coat my posts a little I guess.
if he was on something weaker, then he would have to take more to kill the pain, he would become addicted faster this way, no?
my point was, he would have to pop more often reinforcing addict tendinitises.
that was far more clear, aswell as, doctors never give u enough to fully kill the pain anyways, for a reason.
I actually somewhat agree with you that the OP probably has a problem with oxycodone even if he wont admit it to himself. I dont mean any offense to the OP its just ive been an addict for many many years, and have been addicted to many different drugs.....so I know addict behavior when I see it. Im not saying that I know for sure that you have more of a problem with oxy than you would like to admit, no one can know that but you, im just saying that thats the way it seems.....all signs point to "addicted and in denial". Its very common for someone in your situation, who has only been taking the medication legally given to them by a doctor to find it hard to realize that you in fact are addicted to your medication. In fact, anybody taking the doses of oxycodone that you are for ANY extended period of time would HAVE to become an addict. Or atleast dependent. Whatever word you use, I mean that you have to continue taking your medication or else you will have withdrawals, and your meds arent making you "feel" the way they use to so you are starting to show drug seeking behavior. Its only natural that this wuold happen after taking SOOO many strong opiates for soooo long...even if you are under a doctors supervision.
You can listen to me or decide to ignore what im saying and keep going about your life with your oxy as you wish, but I think you need to seriously start thinking about the situation your in. And really think about what this drug is doing to you. I believe that you know deep down that you truly do enjoy the "highs" that the oxy can give you, and since they arent doing that anymore for you, you are trying/hoping for an increase in your oxy dose. Its extremely easy to come up with an excuse as to why you took more of your meds than you were prescribed, even if the excuse was thought up subconciously. Maybe you dont even realize that you saying that you took the extra meds because of your active lifestyle was just an excuse that you gave to yourself subconciously so you wouldnt feel bad, or feel like an "addict" when you take extra oxy so you can feel that "goodness" that oxy can cause.
Im pretty sure that no matter what I say here your going to keep wanting to take your oxy, and thats because your addicted to it and I know how hard it is to want to make a change that goes in the opposite direction of your addiction....and there are so many excuses you can come up with as to why you SHOULD keep taking the oxy, its just too hard to say no. And I know that some of those excuses as to why you should take the oxy are actually very good and valid excuses(i.e. your disorder) but what im trying to say is that there is an excuse/reason as to why you should stop taking the oxy that is even more valid and even more important than any excuse you can come up with as to why you should keep taking your medication.....And that reason is that you are living an addicts life. And it is holding you back from reaching your full potential. I know from many years of experience, that even though there could be positive effects resulting from taking that drug, the negative outweighs the positive.
There are plenty of other medications and techniques that you can take/try to manage your pain other than taking oxy. You could even take suboxone like the doctors reccommended. It truly is a very good painkiller yet it doesnt cause the addiction that you are facing right now. I also know that from experience, I take suboxone everyday and it kills any pain I have, and since I donthave as much pain as you I get high off of it as well. But the good part is, im not addicted to it. Because of the type of drug suboxone is, it prevents me from becoming addicted to it.
Im sry for making such a long post that your probably not going to listen to anyway, and I do realize that there are even more factors that need to be considered with this issue that I didnt even talk about but its just hard to do this over the internet. i wish you well and hope that you make the right choices for yourself.....choices that are not influenced by the "high" you can get from oxy. *the word "high" can mean pleasurable or painkilling, it doesnt necessarily mean you feel orgasmic or anything*
