Opioids Dr is trying to get me off Oxy & switch to Suboxone

Sorry man, it sounds like you're just getting fucked by your doctors. Remember that case in Florida where they sent a man to jail for having too many pain meds, then when he was in prison he got even more?

Scoliosis is a physical fucking problem. If they're not seeing it its time you stopped seeing them. YOU HAVE A FUCKING CURVED SPINE WHICH IS KNOWN TO BE PAINFUL!
I have no idea what they're doing. You like Oxycotin more, you don't wanna switch! They should be more considerate.

AND PREPARE FOR THE WRATH OF A LEGITIMATELY DISABLED AND PISSED OFF EDUCATED GUY ABOUT TO UNLEASH HIS WRATH AND FURY TOMORROW ~~~~~

CALLING THE GOV OFFICES AND LOGGING A SERIOUS COMPLAINT. SERIOUS.

HERE I COME. PUT YOUR HARD HATS ON.

5PM AND 8 HOURS AFTER MY LAST DOSE - BREAKTHRU PAINS ARE SEVERE - NO CALL FROM MY PHARMACY , DONT WANNA GO TO LOCAL ER AS THEY DONT RX OPIATES - THE DOCS ARE GOOFS.

they actually CAN make you come in each day......but because this is the U.S. were talking about....that means that he CAN choose to go to another doctor if he doesnt like this ones' policies. Its the american way.

You need to become a bluelighter first, I expect to get your first PM. :)

I really hope you the best of luck. It is really unfair that you were born with a problem and doctors refuse to treat it in a meaningful way. No you don't want xx, and don't want to try. Thats your decision not theirs. I don't understand why they're so stingy either. I wouldn't expect a guy who is in constant pain to be the most accommodating while medication wasn't being dispensed correctly.

" No you don't want xx, a ? - could you clarify?

Thanks!!!

UPDATE AS OF 10PM ~~~~~~~ YUP, I GOT 1 DAY DISPENSED & IT SHOULD NOW COST ME $11 PER DAY X 30 DAYS = WELL YOU DO THE MATH. ANGRY? wHO? mE? yES.

The pharma lady lowered my dispense cost to like $6 and change cuz she feels so bad for me, and keeps telling me to get the fukc out of their like now**** leave their stoopid asses. In her opinion she totally agrees this is unfair and unethical. Again, if you see me in person, and my specialists reports - mri's ..... you would concur.

Gosh help us all.

Unfortunately it actually IS the doctors decision. And whether or not these doctors made a mistake in this scenario is not for a bunch of people who only know the story from the perspective of the patient over the internet to decide. im not trying to be rude, but thats the honest truth. There could be reasons for his doctors decisions that we are not aware of. We simply, just cant know unlesss we talk to his doctors ourselves.

Those doctors have to worry about protecting there medical liscences and the fda has been cracking down bigtime lately and if a patient who is on high dose oxy comes to his pain doctor and says that he took his meds too early and hes short for the month....the doctor HAS to make the assumption that this patient might be abusing his medicaiton. Because if the patient IS abusing his meds, the doctor could possibly get his medical liscence revoked, depending on the situation. He is simply doing his job in response to what you chose to do because you were more active and decided to take the rest of your pain meds because you were in more pain....and you decided to do this without consulting your doctor first. that would have been a smart thing to do....atleast so they are aware of WHY you are doing what your doing, so maybe they could have simply said...."here...hres a script for a little more breakthrough pain meds because youve been so much more active".

I think everyone is a little too quick to jump to the conclusion that this OP is automatically the victim here and that hes a "poor baby" and "no one should be treated like that whose in pain!!". im sry but people who make these assumptions come across as a little ignorant to me.....they dont seem to want to even think about what the other side of the story is, the story from the doctors perspective...etc...

LIABILITY IS PARAMOUNT AND MOSTLY THE PRIMARY CONCERN, PERHAPS TIED WITH SAFETY WHEN DOCS RX A DRUG. YES THEY WANT TO COVER THEIR ASSES AND UNDERSTANDABLY SO. I AGREE WITH YOU.

The problem here is - based on my personal situation - they have facts that are not altogether accurate & have formulated assumptions that are thus also dirty. Bad info in = Bad output out.

oh well, time to take it to the next level - GOV. :X:(:o:p8o:X:!

"formulated assumptions that are thus also dirty"...???? what does that even mean?

they formulated assumptions that they HAD to formulate because a tell-tale sign of someon becoming addicted to there MASSIVE amounts of prescribed oxy and abusing them is finishing your prescription early. It happens all the time and its pretty standard protocol for them to assume that you might possibly be abusing your medication or not. Its nothing personal, its just the way doctors HAVE to be....otherwise most doctors would eventually have there liscences revoked because they automatically assumed that everyone who finished there potent narcotic prescription early was simply in more pain and wasnt abusing there medication.

THEY DID WHAT THE RIGHT THING TO DO WAS. I know it sucks for you, but like I said earlier, if you had called your doctor and ATLEAST left a message for them explaining that you were planning on taking more of your meds because you were more active and are consequently in more pain, you more than likely wuld not have been treated the way you were treated. you decided to wait until AFTER you took the rest of your monthly script before going to your doctor and explaining the situation. that was a poor choice unfortunately. And that was the exact reason they had to respond the way they did....they did nothing wrong and I understand how you feel like youve been "wronged" and they shouldnt have treated you that way....but according to standard medical practices in modern times, they did EXACTLY what theyw ere supposed to do and Im pretty sure trying to appeal to the "government" or "Loging serious complaints" will only make the situation worse and not help you one bit. In fact, thats probably exactly what an actual drug addict would do in this situation. So be careful how you act and what you say, because even though your NOT a druggy, all it takes is you "coming across" as a druggy for them to keep treating you like one.

I think it means that their decision making process wasn't very clear. They assumed things too quickly and therefore protect themselves first.

xx is subuxone, I used it as a way to generalize all alternative drugs.

I think they decision should be yours, and if they don't want to treat it you can't really bother seeing them anymore. You're right its the doctor's decision and I'm happy that most of the time my doctor allows me to choose.

Yes the doctor is trying to cover their own asses as well. But why would you deny someone like Scoliosis some opiates? They're stubborn people who just don't want to treat the patient. How often do you see the doctor? I see myself everyday, and even if I don't have a doctor's degree I'm pretty sure I know my own problems more than someone who sees me every month or so. Maybe they're talking about breakthrough treatment, but what if I don't want it? They say NO YOU MUST, OTHERWISE YOU'RE GOING TO YOUR PHARMACY EVERYDAY? I wouldn't have any of that!

The OP did take more than he was supposed to. But not much. Not enough for the doctor to think someone in chronic pain might be shady. Pain fluctuates. Everything does.

I'm not babying the OP, but hes not asking for much. Just gets pissed off because hes in pain. I could put myself in OP's perspective and a doctor's. The doctor isn't being rational.

I disagree that the doctor "isnt being rational"....the decision he made is standard practice in this scenario and happens everyday, all the time, all over the world.

also.....they werent trying to deny him opiates....they were trying to switch him to other opiates.

and...the reason why a doctor who only sees you once a week, or once a month is entitled to "make that call" is because they went to medical school for around 8 yrs...maybe more. This means they know much more about medical issues(including addiction signs) than the average patient. And like I said, I agree that the OP isnt trying to abuse his meds and pain DOES fluctuate but where he went wrong was by NOT CALLLING THE DOCTOR. if he doesnt let the doctor know what hes doing before he does it, then it looks to the doctor as addictive/shady behavior. thats just the way it is. I guarantee you the OP can go to ANY other pain doctor and they would have done the exact same thing.

Im really not trying to argue here, its just that alot of poeple here are jumping to conclusions trying to make the OP seem like a victim, when in fact, hes the one who made the first mistakes in this scenario....and maybe the doctors had no choice but to treat him like a possible druggy since the OP chose to do what he did. Its just the way it works. I feel sorry for him too, I really, really, do.....its just im not gonna sit here and lie to him to make him feel better, telling him that those doctors are assholes and should never have done what they did. Because that would be a complete lie. they followed standard medical procedure.

Look, the Op made a mistake because he was in pain, thats unfortunate.....but now he should focus on how hes going to prove to his doctors that hes not a drug addict/abuser so that he can get back on track with his painmanagement as quickly as possible. Thats the ebst thing he can do if he TRULY wants to fix his pain. Lodging complaints and bitching about the doctors IS NOT going to help him at all....its just going to complicate the situation. Im trying to help him, honestly....and just because im not sitting here and saying..."awww poor baby....stupid asshole doctors!"....doesnt mean I have no sympathy.....maybe I have the most sympathy for him, but the advice im giving him is the advice thats actually gonna help him get back on track as fast as possible.

I haven't had that kind of experience, but you're very rational. I meant that they were denying him the opiates that were known to be beneficial.

It is the OP's fault for taking too much in a short amount of time but its pain management. They should understand that. Its not like something that doesn't show up on x-rays.

I'm really sorry if I sounded argumentative. I just really don't see the decision being rational. I didn't suggest anything at this point on how to deal with the doctors in this thread. I mentioned to him that he should visit an ER the next time this occurs in a PM however.

OP I agree with JamesBrown. Don't lodge complaints. Talk to your doctor, try to make them understand. If not switch to another one, but don't bother with the red tape. You're looking for a load of paper documents and tons of questions, the easiest would be to talk to your doctor. Or hey, you can give them a try. It might be the best option at this point. Try it, if you're prejudice against the new drugs thats okay, just take them for a few days, hopefully they work and if they work worst report they don't work and you'll get what you were getting before. That would have been what I had done.

Thatas EXACTLY what I said about 30 posts ago.

*Also...you said that they were denying him opiates that were known to be beneficial....that also isnt true......they were OFFERING him NEW opiates that are also known to be beneficial. Suboxone is VERY effective at killing pain, I know this from personal experience.....The way i look at it...."they were denying him opiates that he may or may not have been abusing(from there perspective) and therefore offered him other opiates that should work just fine."

And just because this OP actually DOES have an obvious medical issue that is obviously very painful, doesnt mean that he is incapable of abusing his meds, and the doctors know that....so they arent just going to automatically keep giving him loads of oxy after they find out that he finished his script early(which is a sign of abuse). No matter what the x-rays show, he still was a "possible" opiate abuser, therefore they had to take special precautions to make it safer for everyone. The OP wont be able to get his script from his doc if his doctor has lost his medical liscence for perscribing high dose oxycontin to someone who is abusing it. (I know he wasnt abusing it, but they dont know that....like I said earlier....standard procedure, just in case he actually "was" abusing it"....its kind of like a fire drill at a school.......you still do the fire drill and exit the building even if theres a chance that there is no fire....its all about thinking ahead, and planning for what may be a possible problem.

Sorry I don't remember you writing that. I'm in complete agreement with you. I wrote something similar in a PM and I guess I assumed some dumb shit.

My perspective was that they weren't very accommodating. I let my pathos take over my logos if you get what I mean. :)

I understand.......im used to it. there are some peopl on Bl that NO MATTER what I post....they ALWAYS find something to bitch about what I said. Its like they are infatuated with bitching at me. When I was in elementary school, that usually meant that a girl likes you, but I doubt the same thing applies here on BL.

You on the other hand, are very understanding and polite for the most part, and are willing to listen to reason....i respect that, its kind of like a breath of fresh air with all these idiots around here on BL. Allthough your not a girl, like I thought you were for a while, so im pretty sure even if you bitched at me, it still wouldnt mean you "liked" me....hehe.;)

A little derailing but here goes.
Its good to talk to reasonable people! You can learn a lot by being open minded, just don't go crazy listening to everything about Area 51!
Sorry about not being a girl, I guess my mom didn't eat enough estrogen rich foods, so I have my nipples but where a vagina is, a penis is instead.

I was trying to be think "Hey if I was a doctor I would be like (this)" but obviously I am not nor do I have any experience with pain doctors. You most likely do. An appeal to emotion.

Trying to be sympathetic to the OP as well. I never had such severe pain, but I can understand it. I think I can tolerate pain pretty well, but I don't have Scoliosis's curved spine. I have seen people in great pain though, and understand that its good to appeal to the person and be kind, but also enforce something that would be beneficial. I suggested going to the ER because they might be nicer there, how would any doctor feel if their patient went to the ER after they prescribed the medication for the very same reason? Yes it was a bad idea to take the drugs too quickly, but whats done is done, gotta move on. Best thing is to just appeal to the doctors, say "Hey I'm sorry I was in pain I couldn't help it. I will try the drugs you suggested I was just in pain so wasn't thinking right" which was what Scoliosis was feeling.

In any case its better than going to the pharmacy everyday. Please report back, and hopefully you will do the thing most beneficial for your position! :D

Tell him to eat shit man. IMO he should understand that you are in severe pain and may need more medication because you are gaining tolerance and maybe your pain is increasing also.

That would definitely be the ideal situation, but unfortunately I don't think telling him to "eat shit" will help him any.

I think it has alot to do with doctors literaly being "scared" of one or more of their patients becoming addicted to the medications they are prescribed....because doctors are now "watched like hawks", having to do with every single narcotic prescription they write, having to have detailed elaborate explanations for every single patient on strong narcotic painkillers, etc......they seriously could lose there medical liscence if they are found to be prescribing strong opiods to an opiate addict.

I dont understand why this thread's still going on, the OP will probably just have to pick up yourprescription daily until next month. Then i'm sure they'll let everything go back to normal. They just want to make sure you dont run out, so look at this as a punishment.

You still got your medicine, shit happens, move on lol.

unfortunately, if a thread is left open, it will probably have people still posting in it. You can always notify a moderator to close it if you like.

Also....I agree with you that after he picks up his script daily, he will eventually have everything go back to normal.
