Bushdoctah said:Why would you be taking E if you are on anti-depressents????? You are asking for #1 very bad drug interactions and #2 a very fucked up psyche!!!! If you are having problems with depression you should absolutly not take E, the comedown could be very very tought for you to bear and very very uncomfortable. If you are taking welbutrin for ADHD I recomend you don't take it at all. I was on that crap for two years and Im willing to bet it will cause you further psychological problems. They don't even realy know how exactly welbutrin works, it does change your brain chemistry however by interacting with dopamine inhibitors. Its a terrible idea to mix E with psychological drugs I can't stress this enough. Ive seen two people go into siezures from that kind of combination. NO FUN PLEASE BE CAREFUL -Love your friend and brother -Ben

I've been taking Wellbutrin daily for 3 years. I've been using E for about 2.5 years. I've never found any kind of adverse reaction between the two, at any dosage or timing.
In general I find if I don't take my normal antidepressant, the effects of the roll are slightly LESS than if I do. Perhaps that's just my unique chemistry, no way to tell. I do seem to use a significantly higher dosage than most people to achieve the same result (I use 3:2 vs my husband who weighs 50% more than me), but I do get to the same result eventually.
As for half-life, I find I tend to run down if I stop taking my antidepressants after about 4-5 days. The listed half-life is 20 hours, so that probably matches up about right considering I do 150mg 2x/day.
However, I don't recommend trying to go 2-3 days without it and then take E. Most likely the withdrawal symptoms will be more of a problem than the normal inhibitor effect if there is any. Just try a higher dosage, and you should be fine. If you're really struggling, I highly recommend supplementing with a B-100 complex in advance (I take one every morning), and maybe some 5-HTP a day or so before.

However, are there any other drugs in the same category as Zyban/Wellbutrin, or is it pretty much a class of it's own? I can't find anything online that suggest there is another AD that is similar to that. I am asking because Zyban is not on the Australian prescription schedule, meaning that it would be a very expensive course of medication to take.
BTW, I have tried Lovan, Lexapro and Effexor. They all make me feel like shit!

drancer said:Well, Well.. I just got prescribed Well.. I mean Zyban by my pschotherapist after an intense discussion. It's not a routine prescription, I pay the full cost of it. She wants me to try Lovan, I vehemently disagreed!!
My question is, has anyone tried taking half a capsule of this Zyban SR 150mg at a time? I only need 75mg dose, but was worried that the SR meant that I can't break it up or I might break the sustained release barrier that's on the capsule.
150mg in a capsule taken twice a day.. that sounds like an awfully high dose for me! (I am sensitive to medication... and drugs)
drancer said:I am just a bit worried about the side effects, that's all. The dose I have been given is 150mg twice a day, but for the first few days just take 150mg once a day. I was just thinking hypothetically that I should break it up and have 75mg twice a day to make it more consistent...![]()
I was arguing with my doctor (in a pleasant, non violent way of course) because I was prescribed Lovan a while back and it gave me the freakiest nausea ever, not to mention my reduced response to MDMA, which annoyed me to no end!
drancer said:^^ I was on 150mg per day for 5 days and then I moved onto 2 x 150mg each day. I am dosing it similar to what you say - once in the morning and once later in the afternoon (at least 8 hrs apart).
So far, I have tried E on two occasions and I haven't noticed anything different. Similar with acid, nangs, weed (although I hate it with lots of baccy in a joint as I find it tasting more and more worse), DXM, speed and coke. I am glad that none of the effects have been muted so far.
That said, I am surprised to read that the initial ramp up is 3-4 weeks before I get the full effects? I suppose that is true, cos this is my third week and I can feel kind of something, but not overly happy or anything like that. There was a time when I even doubted that it was working at all!
Mind you, I would hate to go back to SSRI's again. I do not like the severe loss of sex drive from those.. or passion for that matter. I go so far as to say they make me feel very unmanly![]()
