Does anyone know of a reason NOT to take opiates?

But then, like me, you get 75 dried pods after almost 2 weeks without 160 of methadone and all that disappears, yes?

Face it, noone will care if we tell about painful things. This site does not attarct that demographic. Best to hope for is safe and factual advice I think.

Well that itch is really the only bad effect I've ever gotten from opiates. If it weren't for that itch, I probably would use opium every day. The itch is not red for nothing.

Anti-histamines help alot. Codeine will overcome all of them to a degree but they do helpo. Also, after one uses over a period of years, even irregularly, histamine production is almost always cut off.

yep. the itch eventualy always dies. and prometh works wonders with codeine. and codeine is definatly the itchiest for most
peace

Just a note here as the thread seems to be taking a different direction...

I smoked morphine for 1 year, and had no constipation and no itches.. thus the thread topic. Given I do take an antihistamine daily for dust allergies.

Is this uncommon for someone to not experience constipation after continuous use? Note that I smoked morphine! When taken orally it gives hellish constipation.

Edit: I guess I should also say that I had a never ending supply of morphine base, which was free, so I guess this puts me into another category...

My health was good the entire time that I used, just the addiction thing got to me after a while and I decided that I did not need that in my life.

well new research shows that Morphine (and only morphine) cause neurotoxicity and brain damage. so that is a good reason not to. Heroin also...thats because heroin is itself just a quicker acting morphine. it's the same drug.

There are many down sides to opiates. Take them for long enough at high enough dosages and you will not get euphoric any more. Just normal or dysphoric because you took too much and are nodding out uncontrollably. It's just not fun anymore it's just life...and a shit one at that. You forget friends, fun, and what life is really about: love.

when you realize that if you ever needed to actually take a pain pill to relive pain, your gonna be shit out of luck.

your not yourself anymore...and everyone feels itis thier duty to let you know that

You cant bust a nut even if Jenna jamenson was suckig you off while Pam Anderson licks your asshole

your start spending 30 bucks on one 80mg of oxy a day....then it turns into 6-8 80mg's of oxy a day

your fiance' wont marry you on the date you guys planned when you got engagened last year unless you kick your habit

your girl looks at you with no trust in her eyes when you leave at 11pm to grab a pack of smokes thinking your just scoring pills or H and lying about the smokes

you cant take a shit anymore

you cant piss anymore

you start to get ashamed of yourself when you get high.

when your spending 8 dollars a pill (subutex) to get off of oxy.

Reason #1: If I want to ejaculate.
Reason #2: If I want to don't want to bring the seldom but existent "opiate rage" onto my family and friends.

OP:

I can't think of any situation that hasn't been made better by a good opiate buzz.

The only reason i could possibly recommend not taking them is if the person taking them doesn't ever want to have to deal with detoxing from time to time. Most of us learn this behavior is just part of the deal.

Honestly, the other side effects are manageable or comparable to something else.

I was doing either china or 300mg oxy a day and never constipated. I eat whole grains, fibrous vegetables, and take fiber supplements.

It all comes down to, eventually, they make you "normal" rather than high, and your habit can eventually cost you hundreds a day. I used to have a habit of 200-300 dollars a day. on a bad day ( Generous ) 500 bucks.

I make damn good money, and it was making me BROKE.

If i had an unlimited supply of opiates, i'd be on them constantly.

But the worry factor, that "What if i run out? What if i have to WD?"

That was enough for me to break the habit.

Also, when you used to snort 20mg of oxy and be in la la land, then you snort 100mg, and you feel normal, it's fucking disheartening.

Most people say addiction. What if you're like me and you don't get addicted to heorin, but rather binge use and lose interest after a binge, allowing you to take a break before gaining a strong addiction and having a natural aversion to gaining any sort of tolerance (month+ once/daily use)?

I still like my post I made half a year ago saying that opiates are illegal and even if you've never been caught, it's gonna happen one day (that or overdose) and then you're gonna regret you're whole life what you could've done without and been (perhaps ignorantly, but no less meaningfully: ) blissful.

But I, like all users in my honest opinion, have no humility whatsoever and continue to use at least from time to time. At least I got the honesty to admit this though. I myself have never been caught or overdosed, or lost any friends (none of my friends use anyways, I use H in solitude) but I've done it thousands of times and my number is waiting.

I am starting this thread to find out others opinions on when it is NOT a good time to take opiates.

I am interested as I find opiates are good in all situations, and find it hard to think of a time when it would not be a good idea to use opiates.

I take opiates to improve my mood, to help me think clearly, and to make my life generally more enjoyable.

I find the only time that opiates do not make my life better is in bed. I find I cannot achieve orgasm, however I do get the ability to make love for hours on end... which has its benifits as well... apart from this, i cannot think of any other problems.

As far as I can tell, there is many more positives than negatives about opiate use, so feel free to add your opinions about when it is not a good time to take them.

Feel free to discuss any opiate here.

hmmm. its probably been said, but here are two reasons NOT to take opiates. tolerance and withdrawals.

first off, as you take more opiates, your tolerance goes up and you need more to get off. this is a given, everybody knows this. also, the quality of your buzz decreases as your tolerance grows, even when you are taking what would seem like enough to get off. this is gradual and takes a while to happen, but eventually you find yourself doing the drug more and more just to feel normal. actually getting a good buzz becomes less and less common. finally you reach a point where you're doing the drug JUST to stave off withdrawals. from that point on, it is not fun anymore, it is a pure bitch and a nuisance.

next, withdrawals. at some point you're gonna go through them unless you are snoop dog or keith richards. after a week or two of feeling like complete ass, you finally are normal again! WHEW. but then you're depressed for months and you are constantly craving opiates. the only highlight to your thought processes are that your tolerance is going down and the next time you are able to score, oh man ain't that gonna feel good. and it starts all over.

so yeah, there's a couple of good reasons NOT to take opiates.

This is an easy one for me. There's just no fucking point in taking on opiates recreationally if you can feel relaxed naturally. My problem is i'm too damn relaxed and if I just sit down somewhere I tend to get into that sleepy/dozy state as a norm. Opiates make me feel this way x10 and i've tried heroin and oxy before. This is the feeling i'm trying to get away from. This is why I enjoy stimulants so much more because it makes me feel alive, active, and sociable.

Plus I don't understand the appeal of using a supposedly recreational drug that may burden you with constant use to live normally without withdrawals. Also sitting alone in a room nodding while the world passes by doesn't seem like a productive high. I get the same thing for free..it's called taking a nap.

^^ Some of us feel just the oppositte that life is just too much work fun wild crazy work fun party work go make more more more non stop everything always.

Take a nap, geez, whats that?

^true.

sometimes i just cannot relax unless im literally in an opiate coma.

it fucking sucks.

plus life sucks and i think too hard about shit it drives me crazy i feel like what i perceive to be "normal" when on opiates. happy, positive outlook, etc.
