SFA, at least you learned something
I have a feeling I'll be telling my one and only story to my kids and grandkids some day ...
End of Freshman year at Uni, partying with some graduating friends ... I'd only recently started drinking, and never had hard liquor before. Some of them decide to climb the dome on campus - this thing is the 2nd largest wooden dome in the world; it could fit the statue of liberty inside, no joke. Anyhow, I split a bottle of vodka with a kid .. we each down a quarter of the bottle (750ml) and I end up running up the dome, after much hesitation - I'd had
no intention of doing this; I'm a very cautious and reserved person. That goes well.
But then we polish off the bottle, so I've had the equivalent of 12 shots of Smirnoff, when the most I'd ever had was a 6-pack.
Since I was so trashed, I couldn't manage to get to the top ... I tried running up 30 times, sliding down each time because I couldn't quite keep my balance. But what did I know, I was invincible!! :D
Finally, on my last failed attempt, I slid down a long ways again and managed to jam my ankle terribly at the bottom. I walked home that nite, but for the next 2 weeks I couldn't walk at all; it was messed up for 2 months .. X-rays negative, but it was painful and inoperable.
Seems to finally be 99% healed now, luckily. I've done lots of other dumb things thanks to alcohol since (driving, nearly killing myself on a mountain .. 8)) ... I'm wiser now thank god, and still unharmed.
I suppose its a bit too late to tell everyone to be safe!
