I'm currently prescribed Adderall IR (instant release) 10 milligrams, 4X's a day as needed. Due to insurance issues (and in order to help me bypass them) by doctor just prescribes me 60, 20 milligram Adderall IR tablets per-month and then I just split them in half. 10mg in as soon as I wake up, 10mg's 3-4 hours later, another 10mg's in the mid-afternoon, and the last 10 milligrams in the evening.

This dosage regiment has been working for me for quite some time now, but in the last couple months - the effects of the Adderall have really been starting to degrade. Even though I've always assumed that Amphetamine was a better ADHD medication than MDATE - I never tried Methylphenidate... until today.

I saw my doctor this morning and he suggested that I try Ritalin IR. He told me that he'd give me a month supply of both Adderall and Ritalin and let me choose which one I feel works better. So today - for the first time in two years, I didn't take my Adderall. Instead, I took Ritalin. They are 20 milligram tablets, and I can take them up to 3 times a day.

After trying Ritalin, I have to say... wow... It's not at all what I expected. I expected it to be a washed down version of Amphetamine - but the stimulation is quite different. Adderall gives you energy. You feel 'jacked-up and good to go'. But Ritalin... It feels stimulating, but in a quite different way. Adderall seems to induce complusions in me, but Ritalin is almost... stoning.

I feel quite calm and content, but with all of the same motivating and focus inducing effects of Adderall. The euphoria is nice, and so is Adderall's, but instead of a jack-up euphoria. I feel a calming sense of clarity, and motivation.

For that reason, I would say that I'm rather impressed with Ritalin. With that being said, however....

Ritalin lasts not anywhere near long enough. I can feel the onset of a comedown only a couple hours after taking it. Whereas with Adderall - it would take almost 5-6 hours for me to feel a comedown. For that reason alone - Adderall is better. But the side-effects of Ritalin are almost non-existent and that's why I'm liking it so much. Anyways, does anyone else have experience with both Adderall IR and Ritalin IR?

Is there any way to make Ritalin last longer? I know of Concerta, and Ritalin ER - but for some reason, extended release versions of both Adderall and Ritalin have little to no effect on me.

Anyways, any input is appreciated :)

you could plug it, let the tablet dissolve in some water and up the bum she goes. Some say you get better BA vs oral or nasally but it's subjective IMO as numbers don't always add up to better/worse highs.

Snorting is another way but I find that I get sensitive to headaches/eyestrain after snorting methylphenidate, especially when it is hot out or I am out of the house for long periods and don't have a chance to eat/drink much.

I would not use concerta BTW it sucks and is expensive and it's probably only on the market because they wanted something ultrahard to abuse. Biphentin is the TR version that I've used and while it is expensive it is covered by my insurance and is easy to abuse.

^^

Already done ;) It was pretty amazing actually - I experienced a huge rush. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than plugging Amphetamine imo. Too bad it only lasts for 3 hours at best

Okay just thought I'd say this too.

Today, the entire day I've been redosing Methylphenidate (by plugging) to keep the effects going. I've never taken an NDRI that wasn't an Amphetamine. Never done coke, never done ethylphenidate, etc. Well... there has been many a day where I've redose Amphetamine all day long. But I did that today with Ritalin and... huge mistake.

I plugged another dose around 45 minutes ago, and instantly I could tell that my body had had enough. I've instantly become paranoid, shadow figures out of the corner of my eye's, very jacked up feeling, very nervous and very anxiogenic. I've heard people talk about this before with coke, but I've never experienced it myself. I guess, this is due to the fact that Amphetamine agonises TAAR and Methylphenidate is just an inhibitor of transporter proteins.

Studies show that TAAR has agonism has some built-in mechanism of inhibition that stops too much monoamine neurotransmission - since Methylphenidate DOES NOT have affinity for TAAR (well, I guess in theory it could, but TAAR is only expressed presynaptically, and MDATE doesn't enter the post synaptic neuron like Amphetamine does.)

Anyways, I'm going to take my prescribed doses of Temazepam. Take my newly prescribed Xanax (replacement for Klonopin), and hope I can kill this horrible anxiety. Throwing in some Hydroxyzine would probably be a good idea as well...

I'm not diagnosed with ADHD or any attention disorder, but I do have some history using both methylphenidate and adderall as study aids... For me ritalin was the preferred one, adderall got me too pumped up at doses higher than 10mg and distracted me from working rather than helping me focus on it. Adderall wins in giving a desire to do something though, it made me feel motivated when I wasn't. Ritalin does this to a lesser extent, ime it works better if you already have some "natural motivation" to get started. It then does a fantastic job at maintaining that motivation and work in a highly effective and concentrated manner.

Ritalin was good to get uni work done, adderall on the other hand was useful for getting physical things done that I didn't want to do (like cleaning :P).

I'm not sure how you'd go about extending ritalin's effects other than simply redosing... I'm not sure how ritalin is metabolised, if CYP353A4 plays a significant role, try having some grapefruit juice a while before dosing. Taking it on a full stomach might help slow down absorption so it comes up and down more gradually.
