Do you use an illegal drug medicinally?

Heroin (recently switched to bupe for sustainability, cost, no high-n-lows) and DXM for depression.

Weed for chronic boredom.

Coke for acute boredom.

LSD for denial and hiding emotions.

When people say they use cannabis for depression, is that meaning a sativa strain through the day for a mood lift or using at night time to decompress? I have always presumed it to be the former, but don't really know.

I have never really found cannabis to have an anti depressant type effect for me, not when using it regularly anyway, I tend to find that if I am depressed cannabis will exacerbate this a little bit due to its tendency to make me over think stuff. I don't think it causes depression at all, just for me sometimes getting stoned can cause me to dwell on what has me depressed, not saying it doesn't do the opposite for some other people though.

For me, canabonoids do more for chronic pain than anything prescribed to me (which in a lot of cases carries harsh side effects over multiple days). We're talking debilitating pain to almost normal function! Great stuff! Also I don't know anyone who doesn't use an intoxicating substance or the like to unwind.

I self medicate with cannabis and ketamine. I use them both for my severe chronic pain from both arthritic and neurological issues since my prescribed pain meds usually aren't enough. Use them both for depression as well. I use just the weed for anxiety and insomnia. Sometimes I'll use the ketamine to help make sense of personal issues going on in my life which I still consider medical use.

I use cannabis at night for sleep and pain relief. TBH ive smoked it almost everyday for about 12yrs and i suffer chr.lonic insomnia, so i dread to think what id be like without it!.
I use etizolam sometimes for anxiety and severe insomnia as im benzo-black-listed at the docs because of a past rampant zopiclone addiction.

Ketamine for depression, no more than 10mg IM within a day.

Cannabis is tricky. If I smoke it once a week it relieves depression; if I smoke it every day I get a lot more depressed and confused than normal.

Rarely (once or twice a year max) MDMA.

A hip replacement that was done badly?

The hip replacement was down right, but the hip replacement they put in was recalled just a few years ago and ive been fighting with the hospital to get information to make sure mine was one that was recalled for ever it seemed. Finnaly got the info and.mine was recalled.been having problems with it since 2006 ( it was replaced in 2005) going to the dr in a week to see what steps to take. Its all because of this i started doing heroin in the first place. I use to just be a big pot head haha

Personally, I can't even take recreational drugs because I usually can't get them. But, if I did you a recreational drug to treat something - it would be MDMA. I've been trying to replicate it's effects ever since I tried it to no avail.

I have bad PTSD and MDMA just got rid of all of it.....I actually felt like a person when I tried it. If I could get MDMA medicinally prescribed OR verify 100% that it had no PMA/Methylone/Meth/Mephedrone etc in it - I'd take it everyday. But, MDMA is going away and being replaced by shitty RC's :( I wish I had been born in the late 70's or early 80's. Stocked up on legit MDMA and then comeback to the future.

Now that I think about it, there's nothing stopping me from making it myself. But I risk criminal prosecution if I do that......plus, all the precursors and controlled.

Anyways, I took my Vyvanse this morning, but I wanted to try to replicate the MDMA effects again so I added in 90MG's of DXM, 600MG's of St. John's Wort and 10MG's of Melatonin. This combination is nowhere near as powerful as MDMA, but I do feel empathogenic at the moment. Normally I feel wired and irritable when I take my Vyvanse. Today (with this combination) I feel.....not speedy at all. But I don't feel tired either. I don't have nerve pain like I usually do and I'm having almost no anxiety (which Vyvanse usually causes).

MDMA was like....I felt really wired and speedy, but very empathogenic. Everybody was my friend, I didn't give a shit how I looked, music sounded incredible. I kind of have this now, but without the speedyness and not as powerful of an empathogenic effect.

This is an interesting mix.

You would just destroy your brain by taking MDMA everyday; plus plenty of MDMA is still out there, just like LSD is.

A girlfriend of mine smokes meth all through the day and night and I'm certain she needs it for ADD, although she's never been diagnosed. Without it she sleeps and can't get shit done; with her medicine she's perfectly functional, the way opiates work for me. I couldn't smoke as much as she does and get shit done. Meth for me is more of a party drug. But it gets her up in the morning and helps her to keep her job, among other things. I've never known anyone else who seemed to be better off with a meth habit than without it.

Psychedelics, legal and illegal to reset my perspective on life when I'm stuck in a rut. I guess MDMA can somewhat be for the same reason but I've never rolled with the intention of therapy.

How so? If the MDMA dose was therapeutic, than why would it be damaging?

I don't know everything about MDMA to be honest, so I'll do more research into the subject. However, if you compare it to amphetamine, I don't see why - in therapeutic doses, it would be any different than the Adderall millions of kids take everyday. Don't get me wrong, if you're taking above the therapeutic dose of Amphetamine everyday, you're going to make yourself psychotic eventually - I know the same thing would happen if you took MDMA in higher doses everyday.

I don't know the dose threshold for MDMA (it's not like it's ever been indicated by the FDA anyways) but from what I've read about MDMA(and from my single experience), It's not quite as potent as Amphetamine per milligram. Obviously, MDMA will have effects on the SERT whereas Amphetamines effects on the SERT are almost non-existent, but putting that aside, how much MDMA would you have to take to be equal to the stimulating effects of a low dose of Adderall? Lets say 10MG's of Adderall for the sake of discussion.

If you were to take a dose of MDMA equal to ten milligrams of Amphetamine on a day-to-day basis, why would that destroy your brain?

I use marijuana for insomnia, and recreationally as well of course. I use it often enough that having none is troublesome.

I can't really function too well without weed. I haven't had any in the last 2 days and shit's sucked.

This is my situation right now. I've found that things typically get better on the 3rd day and after a week or so, cravings decrease a lot.

Look, at best, weekly, let alone daily, administration of MDMA is just unsustainable. The serotonergic system simply differs from those regulating other monoamines. 5ht release causes more rapid and enduring depletion of vesicular 5ht and receptor-downregulation compared with classical stimulants' effects on dopaminergic and norepinephrinergic systems. Hell, I'm skeptical that daily stimulant can prove sustainable outside of rare cases.

Stimulation in what sense? Sympathomimetic, concentration, motivation, perceived energy-level, objectively measured release of DA and/or NE, etc.? I don't consider this comparison a useful starting point...

But I would still expect this type of dose to be unsustainable at best.
