I think there's a good possibility that the patterns and forms found on Persian rugs, ancient architecture etc. were all heavily influenced by visions gained through the use of psychotropic drugs, yes. (Not necessarily DMT specifically).
Of course it could be that some people just have a natural ability to visualize such things too. I think it's probably a combination of both.
I think what it comes down to at the end of the day is that if one can perceive such forms during a drug-induced visionary state, then the mind is capable of generating them all the time anyway. It's just that you become aware of them whilst under the influence of psychedelics. If they are in the subconscious, then some people will have the ability to translate those visions on to an artistic medium, whether under the influence of drugs or not.
