Do you think patterns on carpets etc. look like the visuals on DMT?

If so, do you think that's where they were brought from in ancient times (and then simply copied)?

I think there's a good possibility that the patterns and forms found on Persian rugs, ancient architecture etc. were all heavily influenced by visions gained through the use of psychotropic drugs, yes. (Not necessarily DMT specifically).

Of course it could be that some people just have a natural ability to visualize such things too. I think it's probably a combination of both.

I think what it comes down to at the end of the day is that if one can perceive such forms during a drug-induced visionary state, then the mind is capable of generating them all the time anyway. It's just that you become aware of them whilst under the influence of psychedelics. If they are in the subconscious, then some people will have the ability to translate those visions on to an artistic medium, whether under the influence of drugs or not.

I'd like to see some one attempt to put what I saw on DMT into a carpet pattern, would have to be a 5th dimensional carpet to start with, then it would have to be alive, then it would have to defy belief or description.

Check out The Doors Of Perception by Huxely. He goes in depth talking about church motifs and spiritual imagery.

No, I think it's bollocks. There's only so many patterns you can make in the world. Most of the appealing ones have been around for thousands of years.

If you put a billion people in front of a billion sheets of paper and say "Draw a pattern" sooner or later someone will draw patterns a bit like the ones you see on DMT.

That's a very good point.

From what I have gathered the most widely used drugs in ancient times were opium, cannabis, mushrooms, mescaline and of course alcohol. I am not aware of DMT use other than ayahuasca though I could be wrong. Pattern hallucinations are pretty mild though and can be experienced without drugs at all. I think it is just the mind seeing the math of the universe. Some of the mescaline CEV patterns I have seen are much more spectacular than anything I have ever seen on a rug.
