Do you still have a conscience?

Whether or not you believe in karma ,

once you experience it for yourself , you will feel the pain you have caused. To have no conscience about your actions , means that the powers that be will have no conscience when dealing you justice........

To have no conscience is to be unhuman , our compassion and conscience are a few of the select positive traits we humans carry.

If the powers that be didn't have a conscience , then I'm sure they would be messing with us all the time.

Remember the golden rule ? What are you doing for your fellow humans by hurting them ? This is a prime example of how humans seem to be programmed for self destruction......

Did Mommy and Daddy not hug you when you were little ?

Having no conscience puts you on the same level as Hitler and Sadam Hussein.......

Yes, i certainly have a conscience. Without it, i don't know where i'd be. This world would be more fucked up than it already is if no one had a conscience. Why the fuck would you be proud of lying and stealing......i hope this is a bullshit post.

Pharcyde,

Get some help. Please. It is NOT GOOD to steal. Thieves SUCK...

Once again this relativism is quite childish and annoying. There has to be objective truths in the world or otherwise if I decided to go out and murder 20 people, who are you to judge me? If murdering 20 people was the best thing for me to do at the time, why shouldn't I do it. There has to be some sytem of objective truths that exist such as "you can't kill," "you can't steal" otherwise chaos would ensue.

Please think out your statements and atleast try to justify them, before you post.

Bullshit. There are no objective truths. We are animals, nothing more nothing less. We mean nothing in the whole scheme of the planet. Who says humans shouldn't kill humans? Society. Humans kill, mutiliate, test and fucking do whatever the hell we want with other animal species but not our own. Does that make it right? Nope, but you can sure get away with it. It's fucking cause and effect. Kill 20 people and you'll probably get caught. Kill a couple thousand and become a hero. Cosmicpoo's comments are right on.

Imagine Niezsche going through dual GHB and weed withdrawal :(

It is a small piece of pie. ;)

No, actually he was one of the great minds of Western philosophical thought and the author of such works as "Beyond Good and Evil" and "The Gay Science". He was also a bit of a nutcase.

the stealing thing

In March I had my truck carjacked (truckjacked?) by a crackhead. He jumped in when I got out to buy a newspaper 2 feet away. he got $500 cash, which was all I had in the world and was for insurance and groceries, a backpack full of college textbooks, my purse, make-up, etc...he got it all. I have always had sympathy for the crimes committed by addicts, because I struggle with addiction myself. But this time, something in me said "no. that's not cool." I have no sympathy. He disrupted the normal ebb and flow of my life with his complete and utter lack of empathy or remorse. I still am dealing with shit over this.

If you're stealing because you're using, you're using too much. Drugs should be recreational, not habitual. It's a tightrope to walk, but if you're going to indulge, pay your own damn way.

The thing is, one in severe addiction is not thinking rationally, and therefore should not be critisized for irrational behavior.. Taught, yes. Called names, no.

Yeah, my conscience is still alive and kicking. Thankfully, my actions over the last few years have made the conscience kind of extraneous, but every once in a while I hear a little peep.

conscience thang

silverfucked - calling him a crackhead may seem harsh to you, but that's his reality. he was on a spree of carjackings and mine was his fifth of 8. I think he belongs in rehab, but he still has repercussions financially for his actions. that's personal responsibility. calling him a crackhead is an honest assessment. if crack addict is less offensive to your sensibilities, by all means use the term. the reality remains the same. A rose by any other name still smells as sweet...

even at the height of my 11 year "severe" opiate addiction i never once lost site of my conscience, then again i had enough money and kept within certain boundries.

What i have noticed is the more the person lacked morals in the first place the more inlcined they were to steal of mates etc, when they developed a habit.

Er... I wasnt really directing my comment at you. :) I'm also not saying that drug users should not be responsible for their actions... Afterall ,it was there choice to get on the drug..

All I'm saying is that, in general, reprimanding, yelling, and bitching at severe drug addicts will not do anyhthing... The drug now controls their levels of dopamine/serotonin/NE/epinephrine etc, which in turn controls their thoughts, actions, and conciousness.

Crack being the worst as it causes massive adjustments to the balance of you CNS within seconds, and within minutes wears off, causing the exact opposite to happen, again within seconds.. This huge contrast of influx/reflux tends to throw rational thought out the window.

yes i have a conscience. i work and pay for all of the drugs i use myself and i'm usually pretty nice to people.

ppl who have consciences

i agree that ppl who use dope and steal from others to support their habits, i.e., are without remorse for their actions are ppl who lack the moral parameters most of us have. their addiction potentiates what is essentially a lack of empathy toward others. if they had never become addicted, would they still steal? I think that they would, given a certain set of circumstances and lack of probability of getting caught. then there are addicts who will steal but really regret it and the addiction that caused it. some ppl won't steal, period. aas far as the whole conscience thing, look at serial killers like ted bundy. complete and utter disregard for all the lives he fucked up. no conscience there at all. but thank god, there aren't that many bundys out there. we just have to deal with the garden variety of dopefiend trying to score a high on somebody else's dime.

I have more of one now than I ever had before I did drugs, I try not to do anything wrong to anyone as I dont see any point in giving others feelings of pain.
