I don't know if this is how I should call it in English. The point is too take a used glass pipe which is brown-black from smoking marihuana in it and start putting the glass of fire using a regular lighter. When you see the smoke coming slowly from the end of the pipe that is set upwards, you start slowly inhaling the vaporizing smoke. If it's done properly, two such hits can get you very high just like smoking weed normally.

Of course such smoke definitely has a lot lot more tar than smoke coming from smoking marihuana but to be honest it somehow really saved me when I couldn't fall asleep and had no weed to help me (I'm addicted to benzos, so nothing helps me to fall asleep).

No never. When I smoked out of pipes (I just vaporize herb at rare times now) I'd clean the residue out with salt and rubbing alcohol and it would get washed down the drain where it belongs.

If someone wants to smoke pipe or bong residue that's their choice but I thought it looked nasty and I remember I'd see friends smoke pipe residue in their bowls or they'd put it on a cig and smoke it and it was unappealing to me. Before vaporizers were around I'd try to smoke the best herb so I wouldn't have to smoke a lot of it in order to get high and I figured that pipe residue was leftover tar and stuff that you did not want to smoke a lot of. I remember reading either on erowid or hyperreal that it was full of carcinogens and leftover by products from the original plant material that you do not want to put into your body or respiratory system.

^ Actually isopropanol can be used to get this residue out of the pipe and make resin which is still good.

Why is this resin bad? There's just plant matter and so there's THC in it. I wouldn't worry about its smoke because when you smoke buds, it's still plant. The hit from smoking this residue is kind of different but it's definitely strong, there's probably more concentration of THC there as heat gets rid of some material during smoking bud.

I'd rather say the problem is tar that gets deposited on it. The only way I see is seeming gross may be the look of used pipe. ;)

smoking resin is gross, dirty, and I associate it with being poor and ghetto. therefore i do not do it. if people try to do it in front of me, I tell them to fuck off and smoke real chronic with me.

I've done it before, and I wish I had friends like kaywholed around me at those times to knock that shit out of my hands and roll one up. In all honesty, though, knowing myself the way I do I know that I can't seriously rule out smoking resin in the future. I mean, pretty much anything can happen under the right circumstances and I can easily discern the circumstances that would lead to me scraping a bowl.

There are no things like ghettos where I live. And am I poor? Well, I'm definitely not rich but I'm not so poor that I don't have money to buy weed. If anything, I don't have a regular source of it.

It's not gross to me after all I've seen during my morphine and other opioids times...8(

i love resin and HATE when people waste it by boiling their pipes to clean them. resin has never done me wrong and always does the trick!

Wow, a some of you are quite judgmental and illogical...

Smoking resin isn't an indicator of being "lower class". It's an interesting high in its own right, and differs from cannabis itself. Due to the way that cannabinoids are preserved in the resin's carbon matrix, the ratios between them are highly altered. That is what makes resin highs powerful and very much a different beast from a normal bud high.

Now, to those who do not like resin because they fear health damage or find it distasteful, you're still illogically wasting a valuable resource. You could very easily use that resin; get a good solvent, dissolve the cannabinoids, and then extract them. Even if you can't achieve enough purity to be comfortable smoking the extracted product, it's still highly potent and filled with cannabinoids. You can merely vaporize the product, for excellent inhaled effects, OR, if you so desire, save it up and have an awesome oral cannabinoid experience! Two options for those who don't like the taste or the potential health detriments.

If you choose to be willfully ignorant and not take advantage of the cannabinoids that you PAID for, well that's your prerogative. But unless it's a lot of work for a particular piece, I'll collect resin and eventually use it for great effect once I have a lot. It's extra cannaboinoids. Why throw that away out of disdain (as opposed to being too lazy to bother, which I understand), unless you're just an arrogant guy who thinks the poor or "ghetto" people are unworthy and inferior by nature (you know, if you're a disrespectful person who imposes his perceptions upon other people and judges them arbitrarily for not having as much wealth and possessions as you do).

Equally abhorrent is the idea that it's simply dirty because you don't like it. It's no more "dirty" than smoking cannabis. In fact, cannabis will give you more tar relative to the mass you have to smoke to get high; you already smoked a lot of the tar out by the time you get to the resin stage. Really, smoking ANYTHING is already dirty, if you want to quibble. Smoking resin is a useful tool if you need it, though I save it up for extraction and oral use, myself.
